FH and I have been going back and forth about whether we should go on a Carribbean cruise, or pick a resort and stay in one location. Any thoughts girls . . .?

Re: HM question . . . Cruise or One location?
Hard to say. Some people love cruises and some people hate them. We loved our cruise. We would definately do it again.

I like staying in one place & experiencing it. A cruise, you see it what for 2 hrs?
I never did cruise...never had the desire too either
we went to 4 locations...but over 3 weeks...so we were able to relax and explore...while seeing different areas

I prefer being able to spend time in a location. Being able to explore each spot, rather then only having a few hours in each place. So I vote against the cruise.
We were in 4 different locations in Costa Rica but we had a few days in each spot to get to know the area.

No with a cruise you are at the port at least 8-9 hours. They usually dock at like 8am and then sail out between 5 and 8pm.

My sentiments exactly! I'd much rather not have to worry about getting back to the ship in time... plus, I think it would be eerie to be surrounded by nothing but water for an extended period of time. I'd much prefer to fly there and have my way with the place!

We cruised and were docked in one location for 3 days. We didn't feel rushed at all. We had a great time and would definately do it again and would recommend it to others.

We considered a cruise but decided against it for a few reasons--- on a cruise, you are around a lot more people than in a resort type place... you're sitting on top of people at the pool, in the dining rooms, etc. The rooms are not usually very spacious. We wanted something that would be more romantic and private so we went with Hawaii.

This should be a poll .. lol
I would say no to the cruise for all the reasons the ladies have already given.
Plus im a lazy old fart at heart I want my honeymoon to be ultra relaxing and way low key. Other than a game of tennis or a bike ride on the beach, we want peace and quite. I dont want any schedules.
Although I would love to be in the middle of all that water, I don't think it would be that relaxing. The cramped quarters would get me irrated really fast.

I kind of felt that way in Hawaii...surrounded by water...no way out...lol

It depends on your travel style. We could have never spent 2 weeks in one location. We would probably kill ourselves from boredom. Thats why we choose a tour around Italy.
But of the choices - I would pick the cruise.

True, while at sea the pool is pretty crowded, but the dinners are broken up into 2 seatings, 6 and 8 pm and there are 2 dining rooms on most ships so your not 'on top of people'
As for the cabins, yes they can be small, but you can get a bigger cabin, as we did on our honeymoon. We opted to have a suite which had a balcony that wrapped around the back of the ship and is was very private and romantic.

Re: HM question . . . Cruise or One location?
we did a cruise for our HM and it was the best decision!! we did a 10-day south pacific cruise (tahiti, bora bora, moorea). we saw places that we would not have been able to afford otherwise. we went on a smaller ship (670 people) so we never felt crowded. since it was our HM we opted for a cabin with a balcony with was heavenly. most of the ports we were docked overnight so we had the better part of 2 days to do stuff.
like someone else said - people either love cruising or hate it. there are a lot of old stereotypes about cruising out there that are not accurate so it is important to do your research.
however - if you have never cruised before, i am not sure if your HM is the right time to try it. i knew i loved cruising, so i dragged DH on one the year before the wedding. he loved it and pushed for a cruise for the HM (we are also doing one for our 1 year anniversary).

Re: HM question . . . Cruise or One location?
There was a post a few months ago titled 'Does Anyone Else Hate to Cruise?' (or something like that.) You'll find more info on the pros and cons including the truth about some stereotypes I'm sure you've heard.
I think they're terrific for honeymoons. I won't repeat everything I said on the old post here but one thing I do believe is that some destinations are not right for a cruise. For example, I wouldn't take a cruise to Europe because there's so much culture to absord and so many wonderful cities to see. However, on many Caribbean islands 10 hours is enough. Like Sue said, on some cruises you dock overnight or for a few days. You might get restless on some of these islands for a week or more, especially if you're not big on baking in the sun 24/7. Other islands are more interesting. Look into it thoroughly-it'll be the most fun research you ever do.

If you are going to do a cruise, FM me and I will give you my cousins number. He works for cruises only. He will give you a really good deal and he will give you plenty of info about what are the best cruises, and what are the best ships. Scott
