HM registry?

HM registry?

I have heard around about some brides 'registering' for their honeymoon... I thought it was a good idea because I find I am putting stuff on my registery for the sake of doing it even though FH and I both came from fully stocked houses. It would help sooo much to have people as a gift put money toward the HM..

I told my mom about it and she flipppppped saying it was completely tacky...and how its not really an appropriate gift... opinions?

IMO I don't agree with an HM registry. I don't think people should pay for my HM. Others will disagree, but that's how I feel.

I've heard of girls doing a hm registery... i think i actually posted some sites for this on the hm board... I don't think its tacky; I mean really, if you already have most of the stuff for your home why not? Not only are your guests able to help you pay for your stay but they could actually pay for excursions and little extras while you're there. Once you pick your destination, look into it a bit more.

i think its a great alternative to a home registry. why ask for things when you dont need them? we set up a honeymoon registry through honeyfund. i dont know how many people will use it, but i gave them that choice since our registry is not that big. if anyone does plan to help us out with the honeymoon, i plan to take a picture of us doing whatever they helped pay for (dinner, excursions etc) and include it in our thank you card. its a good way for people to give cash but to also actually apply it to something meaningful.

I think I agree with your mom.. I dont think its that tacky but I think people would rather give you an item they can see,, sicne they dont really realize how muchmoney we are shelling out,, the probably think someone is buying us the honeymoon.. My FH father hinted to his mother ( FH grandma that we dont have money to pay for our HM.. AHAHHA maybe they will pay for it! LOL

im trying to think of some other things we can register for - we've been living together for a few years so we have pretty much everything - and i mean everything - but alot of it is my Mom's stuff that she gave me when she moved to Florida....we figure that we will still register for everything and then keep everything boxed until we get a house - it will be easier to move that way and then everything will be new! im still trying to come up with other ideas though - and i have thought about doing the HM registry - just not sure how to go about it....

FH and I did a HM registry with Disney. IMO I dont think it is tacky. You are asking for things to make your honeymoon more special that otherwise you may not be able to afford.
