HM Review ( Mexico)
We just got back from 10 days in mexico and I must say at first we were nervous with the whole flu thing going on but when we got there we felt so at ease there was no sign of any issues at all and it wasn't even spoken about.
We stayed at 2 resorts...the first 5 days we were at Excellence Playa Mujeres and it was BEYOND amazing!! The service, food, the room, everything was perfect and romantic and we had an amazing time. If anyone is going here and has any questions feel free to FM and I'll give you more details about the restaurants and what not.
The second resort we stayed at was rated a 5 star resort and boy was it a huge disappointment. We stayed at The Royal Hideaway in Playa del Carmen. Honestly we read tons of reviews and books and this resort was supposed to be the best of the best and we did not think so. The service was far below par, the beach is basically gone because of a hurricane a few years back (which they don't tell you), and the rooms are nothing special. The resort itself was very beautiful and the dinners were very nice (they try to make them very lavish) but there were so many things we were unhappy with that it was hard to notice all the good things. The best thing about the resort was the location....Playa del Carmen is a great area. It's located right near a cute little shopping town and the houses around there are unbelievable. It's def a higher class area of Mexico. We were able to rent bikes from the resort and take a long bike ride outside the resort is was so safe and very beautiful.
All in all we had an AMAZING honeymoon and I'm so sad it's over.....back to work!!!! If anyone is going to either of these resorts and has questions feel free to FM me.
