So I am trying to pick a weekend to head down to LI to get in my final meetings in a month or so..... well the DJ can't meet on weekends or even on mondays, and they said they can only meet us Tues-Thurs at night.
FH and I work during the week and we need to save our time for the HM so frankly this isn't possible.
They told us we can do everything over the phone and fax/email our selections/sheets.
I didn't really think much of it but I admit over the phone makes me a little nervous.
What would you do? Will this be ok or should we make a stink about it?

I didn't really think much of it but FH is annoyed. He says we are paying them a lot of money and they need to accomodate us and meet us at least on Monday morning, even if it is their day off.

This is going to sound crazy but maybe an over the phone and then email from them 'confirmation' so you have everthing 'in writing'...boy I hate quotation marks....please don't think of me in my avatar throwing up the air quotes... I just like an in writing approach to everything,
P.S....where the helllllll do you really live? i've always wondered....

I'd give the Monday morning thing a try, FH is right you guys are paying them for a service and to not be able to accommodate your schedule at all is a little unprofessional. If they really absolutely can't do it I wouldn't worry too much about doing everything over the phone, I don't think that will be an issue at all. And I'm sure your FH isn't so much worried about the over the phone thing as he is peeved that they're refusing to bend a little to work it out.

THe final DJ is so simple and we were in and out in 10 mins. I would email them the forms and then call to go over it all and then have them send you a confirmation email. And can you maybe then meet with them the day before the wedding if you still feel uncomfortable.

First I would try to get them to meet you on a Monday morning, but if they don't I wouldn't worry about it - we never met with our DJ right before the wedding. We just did everything by email and it was fine.

i went in my self for the final meeting b/c of the schedule conflicts as well. I did everything else from that point over the phone and everything went amazing

I just had my final DJ meeting and honestly you can do it over the phone. Its no big deal.. but if you feel more comfortable meeting with them I would just call them back and say that you really would like to meet with them but its very hard or impossible for you to do it on a weekday, is there anyway they can plaese make an exception. Even if it is a monday morning.

I'm going to have to do mine over the phone as well. Driving out to LI from NJ on a weeknight for a 10-15 min meeting just isn't going to work for us. I'm okay with faxing the forms.

LOL- I grew up on the North Fork, my parents are still there, but now I live up near Ithaca... went to school up there, met FH, he got a job, I graduated, kinda got stuck because he didn't want to quit his job in this economy!! So that's my story!

That is usually the case. I could never get my dj on a weekend and the only time I was able to see them is if they invite me to go to a wedding that they are servicing for an hour or so to see a particular type of set up sound etc.
Most of my meetings have been mid week. Give the phone/ fax email a try and if that doesn't work then take a morning or afternoon to see him.

I would just do it over the phone....I dont think it is unheard of that a dj cant meet on the weekends or Monday because that is when they work. I understand the frustration but I dont think they are being unreasonable. My DJ is manhatten and I am on the east end of LI so our final meeting will most likely be over the phone

if the monday thing doesn't work out the i would do the phone/email thing. it'll probably take 15min tops anyways & this way you both have a copy of the same thing. just keep everything that you send & ask for confirmations. its usually all just paperwork anyway. good luck!!
