Hmm...Can't think of how to phrase this.

Hmm...Can't think of how to phrase this.

Do you think mostly the mother of the bride throws the shower nowadays?
How might my mother ask for assistance (financial or otherwise) from my girls? Should she?
What about the mother of the groom?

My mom paid for it and didn't ask any of my BM for $$.

My sis had 2 showers b/c the mog was an idiot. She was so upset with her pa shower that mom and I threw her another one that kicked her PA shower's butt. Technically, family isn't suposed to throw the shower b/c its asking for presents. Who is your MOH? Mine is my sis. My sis and mom are already planning mine and the wed isn't for 11 months. I asked her to ask the rest of the bridal party and MOG to help- don't want bad blood. I'd take into consideration the financial condition of the BP before planning the shower- meaning don't have it in a fancy resturant if you need help and they can't afford it.

That's a good question, I've been wondering the same since my mother lives 4 1/2 hours away and I have no sisters. I think my shower is going to be at someone's house hosted by my BM's with my mom's help. I don't think traditionally the groom's mother helps out financially. Although my friend had two showers one thrown by her mom and one thrown by her FMIL.

I'd say it varies. I've been in bridal parties where the mother paid for the whole shower, and ones where the bridal party paid for the whole shower.

For mine, it was a mix of the two.

I certainly don't think its wrong for the bridal party to contribute. If your mom helps, its very generous of her, but not required.

My mother wants to give me the best that she can (who's mommy doesn't right?)
But the trouble is she doesn't have all that much $$$...I'm having eleven girls--most of which are members of my FH's family...
My moh and girlfriends (newlyweds, new home owners, students, etc.) don't have much to contribute either.
Plus I just know that my FMIL is going to want to invite 80 million people.
I certainly wouldn't mind something small and intimate, but...I don't know...This is getting complicated.
BTW: My matron of honor is my cousin (but she's practically like my sister--same age, grew up together, etc.)
I was her moh and did not help with the shower.

I think it's primarily a MOH duty and she asks for help from the bridesmaids and mothers. In my case, my sister (my MOH) is organzing with help from my stepmom and grandma financing and the location (I think its' in one of 2 houses) and then she is delegating certain maids for different things......My FH mom wants to help too...not sure what she's helping with..probably food.

My sister is getting married in March and I am the MOH. My mother and her fiances mother both know I am also getting married an cannot afford a shower, so they are paying for the shower. I gave jobs out to all the bridesmaids. For example, 2 girls are making a wishing well. Others are responsible for decorations. I am doing favors and invitations. It is very easy to ask them to do jobs rather than ask for money.

it depends on the family situation. i dont have a relationship with my mother so my sister and the bridal party threw mine. We also threw one for my friend and her parents were together and she is very close with her mother. It all depends.

My entire bridal party and my mother threw my bridal shower. My mother and the bridal party planned it all together and took care of it financially.
