As most of you ladies know, my wedding is going to be in CT, and everyone except for 2 people are going to be OOTers.
Our hotel block is all situated and settled now...and I feel like I should start letting people know now...my fear is this:
Invitations are going out about 3 months prior to the wedding. Our hotel has about 170 rooms, we are inviting about 400 people...which means that I could potentially have to open a block at a second hotel. I am afraid that If I wait until say September/October to find this out, I might not be able to block another hotel b/c rooms might be sold out.
Do I send a massive facebook message to all of the guests and say hey, our hotel block is open if you want to book your rooms? What about the people that don't have facebook or e-mail? What do I do with them? Should I send everyone a note in the mail or something? That seems like a lot of $$ though...for postage and crap...
ETA: STDs went out a few months ago. We included a card that said hotels would be blocked within the next few months and to check our website. But IDk about people who forgot/don't have Internet/etc.

Are you sending STDs? I'd send out that info along with the STDs.

Did you or are you sending STD's? You can send the hotel info with them.

I spread the word to our family and friends as soon as the hotel block was booked. I did it via telephone, email, facebook and word of mouth. At least then you know that all the 'VIPs' are taken care of. At that point you can see how many rooms you have left and are available in the hotel and judge from there whether or not to open another block.

Cant you just block additional rooms at another hotel to be safe? If your current block runs out...you can direct people to the other one. I did this for my wedding. I have my preferred hotel...and then also made sure I had some at another hotel to be safe

Thats what I will be doing next month - when the invites go out
eta: I also included the info with the std's...but so far no one has booked - then again, I also mailed the std's out last June...so it could have been forgotten about

update your website, and also make sure you spread the word to your fam. my friend did not have stds and just emailed everyone the info.

I had a similar situation and I spread the word and put the info in the STDs and still not everyone booked their rooms!
I would send out an email, possibly with a link to either your wedding website or the hotel website asking them to book ASAP and then have your fam spread the word that they need to make the reservations NOW.
But people STILL won't make them! I'd do another hotel block just in case and then send it all in the invites.
