Hmmmm

Hmmmm

So I mean this in a very unselfish way, but am confused. My mom is throwing me a shower in maine- thats where Im from. And she invited some of my home friends and all her friends that are comming to the wedding. So there was about 15-20 people invited. And she sent the invites out about 3-4 weeks ago and most people are comming except for 2. It is next sunday and I noticed that only 2 things have been bought off my registry. Do you think maybe things are not getting taken off for some reason? I have already gotten duplicates from my NY shower and feel bad when I open things people know i just got from someone else... either that or no one is buying off the registry...

I wouldn't worry - Most people (myself included) wait until the last possible minute to buy gifts!

i am not worried about getting them as much as I am about duplicates. I just feel bad when it happens!

Maybe there is a problem with the registry? Is there anyone going that you know well enough that you can explain the problem to and ask if she can check to see if what she bought is off? (Like a really, really good friend from here that was invited?)

well my sister got me stemless glasses and they didn't take it off so then my good friend got me the same ones and then it was taken off- but thats how I got duplicates. It mostly happens with pottery barn. Great products!- not great for a registry.

I am also having an out-of-state shower. My sister is going to ask everyone to purchase a gift card from either target or macys and eighter attach a photo of what they wanted to purchase for me or have it sent to my home.

If I had to pay for all the items to be shipped to me back east it wouldbe abust!

I'm sure you will have a lovely shower! Maybe the majority of them will be giving you cash or gift cards in place of traditional registry items

thats true...or waiting till the last day...

although....

if you are registered at BBB...I would check with them sometimes they forget to scan the registry!

my friend purchased her own cake cutters bc no one got them. She swears they scanned ther registryy....they never did and i found out no one bought them!!! and i got them and she had 2...

I second the fact that people wait to the last minute ! My best friends shower is next weekend and all of the bridal party 5 of us are getting her a big gift not on her registry (we are doing a fun honeymoon bag , lingerie , bikini , etc ... ) so she is probably wondering why none of of us have bought anything yet :)

don't worry :)

Maybe they're leaning towards giving you cash or gift cards so you don't have to lug gifts back and forth to wherever you're staying - cause I know you said you're from Maine, but you had a NY shower. Not sure if you reside in NY currently, and would be coming back to NY to live, but people probably figured it'd make more sense to get you gift cards/cash.

I know my mom's friend's daughter had a NY Shower (where she is from) and a shower in Ohio (where her husband was from), but they were both living in CA. She couldn't really travel with all the gifts, so she ended up returning them all, and then just buying them herself when she got back to CA.
