So my gut instinct is telling me that I made a mistake with my choice of photographer. I already paid the $800 deposit. Not sure what to do. Advice?

Re: Hmmmm...
You could maybe put that deposit towards trash the dress or day after pics or maybe boudoir pics or engagement photos. You could also see if they'll do a pregnancy shoot if you're planning to have kids soon after being married.
You could try to get the deposit because but I doubt with the economy being the way it is that you'll get them to give it back. Maybe see if you get someone to book with them for the day they'll give it back.

I don't want to say who it is on here because it might offend people who chose that photographer. I will fm you individually.

I guess it depends on if you have heard good reviews

Re: Hmmmm...
I have heard good reviews about the company but nothing about this specific photographer. I have been thinking for a while that I wish I went with a individual photographer rather than a company because I want a 'funkier' photographer rather than classic standard wedding pictures. My fh just e-mailed to see if we could switch to another photographer within the company.... so we could choose someone who we have heard more about since I'm on the edge with this. I just really want these pics to be perfect because 1. I take horrible pictures normally and 2. I have virtually no photos with Fh in the entire almost 9 years we have dated... Thanks for the help. I'll let you know how it goes. Katie

Re: Hmmmm...
when did you book, because you can legally go back on a contrct within three days of signing in NYS. Also, would you consider choosing another photographer in the same company...if that is an option?

Re: Hmmmm...
According to my contract, if I cancel now I will owe 50% of the total... which is 2,000.... So no lol.

Re: Hmmmm...
Id call them and ask them what the policy is. Explain the them your doubts and what you feelings are and maybe they will reassure you...

Re: Hmmmm...
if your gut feeling is telling you you made the wrong choice with them than follow your heart and your gut feeling because your gut feeling and heart is usually right and before you regret it on the day of your wedding better to take care of it now and go look at other places if you are really not happy with this place you have booked with. call them and see if you can get your deposit back, try to work with them! if not, than you will have to decide what to do. think about wether you want to take the risk of just staying with them or losing that 800 dollars is worth it and picking someone else?? i dont know what i would do, but usually if my gut feeling tells me something i go with what its telling me regardless but thats just me.. good luck with everything hun!

I agree. I doubt they will give you the money back, just make sure you don't legally owe more. We bailed on our 1st photographer at a $900 loss but it was the best decision we could make and although we didn't have the money to lose, I am glad we did what we did. You can never get that day back.
