How does 'blocking rooms' work? If you block a certain number of rooms but dont use them all, are you required to pay for them?
Thanks Girls!

Re: Holiday Inn Express
no you are not required to pay at all...if you want to block rooms just call up and say you want to block rooms for what date and how many rooms. You don't pay to do this, you get a contract. Whatever isnt booked a month before they release back out

Re: Holiday Inn Express
You have to be clear about what the contract states. Each hotel is different.
We blocked 10 rooms, but our guarantee was 5 rooms. So if only 4 rooms were used, we would have to pay for the 5th under the guarantee. We had available until the booking deadline the 10 rooms. If we needed more, then that was subject to availability.

Re: Holiday Inn Express
I went to the Holiday Inn Express in Ronkonkoma near the airport. The whole hallway smelled like smoke.
Went with Courtyard Mariott near the expressway. Professional. Courteous. She actually called me back unlike some of the other places. The whole building is non-smoking which i knew would be important to my family. Rooms were gorgeous. There's a bar and an indoor pool and hottub for guests. Price was comparable to HIE.
OH and we are staying there the night of the wedding... they have a room with a hottub. WOOHOO! Already booked it.

I thought so too!! FH and I did not go with HIE for exactly that reason. We did like that the bar area stayed open late though.

We blocked rooms at the Holiday Inn Express in Stony Brook. It's nice there and everyone is VERY helpful!

Skinny237 are you staying in the bridal suite at the Holiday Inn Express? I'm just wondering what it's like?

Re: Holiday Inn Express
i looked at the bridal suite there. Again... it smelled like smoke. (and no one is a worse critic than a former smoker LOL) Ok room otherwise. Mariott's better....newer...cleaner... brighter.

Re: Holiday Inn Express
I blocked rooms at the Holiday Inn in Plainview and they released whatever rooms weren't used. I think we booked 20 rooms and only 15 were used so they were just released. Each hotel is different with the requirements for booking so I would check with them. Also block ASAP so you know you will have them.
