My sister is contemplating changing her wedding date to Nov 29th, the Sunday after Thanksgiving. How do you girls feel about holiday weekend weddings?
If you dont like them can you please post the reason why not?

I'm getting married on Father's Day of next year. I've heard a couple of whines about it, but the RH offered us a nice discount and we decided to roll with it. Now my dad says that he's getting a son-in-law for his Father's Day gift. Aww!
Just a note - my best friend got married on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving a few years ago. She gave everyone a good amount of notice and while there were some complaints, almost everyone made arrangements to be there. She got some SICK discounts and since the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is usually a huge party night anyway, people had a BLAST!

I like Holiday weekend weddings...as long as I dont have to go to work the day after. We once had a wedding on Memorial Day and it didnt end until 12...so it wasnt a good day the next day...but other then then I dont mind them

i don't think there's anything wrong with them. i've been to a few! the only thing that would worry me is if people wouldn't attend because they wanted to take a mini vacation during that time. but with a good amount of notice, i think that would still be ok!

I think they're fine! Most people dont really go away for thanksgiving weekend anyway.

I'm actually getting married the Sunday before Labor Day. It's almost like having a Saturday wedding with Sunday prices!

We got married 11/29/08 (the saturday of thanksgiving weekend). It was great, the only no-shows we had were people who lived very far OOT. Everyone that we wanted there was there! We sent STD's and gave a bout 14 months notice.

I think it depends on which holiday weekend it is. I go out of town to see family for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and I have long standing plans for New Years, so those weekends are out.
However, I'm getting married the Saturday of Columbus Day weekend, so obviously I'm okay with certain holiday weekend weddings. ;) Memorial Day weekend was our second choice for the wedding. I have a ton of OOT family, and it was important to me that they have the extra day off to travel.
