hollow to hem

What does this mean 'hollow to hem'?

It's the measurement from the hollow of neck, where it meets your chest to the hem of your skirt, so basically the floor. I had a hollow to hem measurement, but then I went and wore a slip that was less poofy than the one I tried on in the shop. My dress was just a touch too long - you actually see me stepping on it in some pics

I wouldn't do it unless you had everthing you needed at time of measuring - shoes, undergarments, etc.

Not every dress needs to be ordered hollow to hem. It's basically for one piece dresses that have alot of detail on the bottom that cant be altered if its too long.

Oh. I understand now. Like dresses with a lot of beading and lace edging that would look strange if cut and hemmed at an odd point in the pattern of beading/lace. Thanks.

Nope, don't have those things yet so I won't be ordering hollow to hem.

At first when I read this I thought the hollow space between my ears Must be the cold medication talking.
