OMG, I just sat down to update my budget spreadsheet, and I am in absolute shock over how much this wedding is costing. Has anyone else recently gone into sticker shock? All those little items that we didn't originally budget for (OOT bags, bathroom baskets, escort cards, table numbers) are adding up like crazy and we have now completely blown our budget. COMPLETELY. Ouch.

Ours did too. I think we are about $8,000 over where I originally thought we were going to be. Every time I did something I would remember something else and add it or I wanted an upgrade to something. I kept saying 'In the grand scheme of things what's a few more dollars'. Well those few more dollars added up! Now to figure out how to come up with the extra money.

Yup I had my shock a couple of months ago...we are way over our budget, Weddings= Not cheap!

My FH is the one with the sticker shock. He flipped out at me over the cost a few months ago. Oh well! He's been too busy to help plan and we moved into his mom's house to save money and I have been absolutely miserable...so I've done everything that I have wanted for the wedding (all the extras are coming out of my paycheck anyway). No regrets! I can't wait...just about a week away!

yea my wedding too is turning out to be alot more then expected but as long as it doesn't get too out of control i guess we will be fine. I only plan on doing this once so i why not get everything i want....hehe

I think I was in a panic up until 3 months before the wedding thinking we weren't going to pay everything off. Somehow we pulled it off and went way over budget.

It works out! We went over our budget, and came out of it.. we even paid off our honeymoon.

I feel better seeing that I am not the only one worrying about the budget. FH decided to start a new career with my full support, so even though he knows we are spending a lot of money, he knows I deserve it :)

I thought I was all alone in this. i thought we were the only ones that were as naive as we have been about the cost of the things. We have spent about $10,000 more than we thought things were going to be just because we didn't calculate all the little things, because I didn't even think about all that goes into a wedding and I really didn't realize how much everything cost. Ahhhh, I know it will be worth it, but right now I am freaking out on how to pay for everything!

Yeah, we went over budget in the music department. About $2,000 more than we had initially anticipated, and we gradually went up when researching music along the way. Oh gosh.... The church musician killed it for us last minute though. If we had known about the cost, we would have gotten another DJ who was cheaper to balance it out.... maybe.. our dj was good I think but we missed a lot of the dancing while taking pictures!!! . We would have liked to have known way before a week before the wedding the cost of church music! holy moly... that was a punch to the stomach and wasn't included in church fees. yikes. but we're greatful the church allowed us to get married there as it wasn't our parish. so definitely no complaints. it was great.

Little things definitely add up but don't go crazy on them!

Just wait till you have to write out all of the final checks at once... o gosh.. even though you know its coming, its still a bit of a shocker.

Ugh. This is our biggest problem now. I really wish I did a better job staying on top of our budget.

budget is like a four letter word in this house...no matter how hard you try you will ALWAYS go over, i think thats the theme with weddings. its like setting a new years resolution, it never works.
