OMG....that's unbelievable

i know its scary, this is the second person in california who died from doing this. You would think people wouldve learned the first time when it happened last year which was a student in a faternity in my school!!!!


ETA- This radio station where the contest took place is also based 15min from where my college campus is Univeristy of California, Davis. All of this week they were holding 'public apologies'

This happens because the woman was told to consume as much water as she can without going to the bathroom. So what happens basically is that there is an electrolyte imbalance in your body and the imbalance becomes so dangerous it could kill you. The water reduces or absorbs all of the sodium in your body causing a hypertonic environment

Too much water in the body causes salt levels in the blood to drop which interferes with brain, heart and muscle functioning, leading to death.

That is awful! I have heard of this happening...And the DJs obviously knew there was a danger! Disgusting, this society we live ins sometimes!
