So last night FH and I were going over our budget and making updates and stuff. The good thing is that we are right on track with our budget (we're actually coming in a little under- thanks to negotiating ). The bad thing is that it kills me when I have no idea what a certain wedding item is going to cost us because then I have no idea how much money to budget towards it. The big things that I still need to book are: Limos, DOC, and technically videography(we're using the same company as our photography but we didn't book it at the same time because of the huge deposit).
I had a consultation with a DOC yesterday and I am very much certain that I want to use her company.
I also have two appoitments this month with limo companies.
I told myself that I didn't want to book any more things this year but then I get such great deals and I feel like I can't help but act on it now. The deposits do add up though, and it can get overwhleming. But then after (when my bank account is emptied), I feel better knowing that I have a set price and that I can adjust my wedding budget to the actual price instead of some random figure that floats in my head.
Is anyone else feeling like this?

Re: Holy Moly Deposits..another long one
I have booked the church, RH and photog.
I only had to put $420 down for the photog and $500 down for the RH (we put $1000) the church I don't have to put anything.
I don't think these are a lot of money so it hasn't bothered me I have just spaced out my appts on pay days.
The only dep left are lime and dj which probably won't be a lot either.
I would rather book now so i get 08 prices, no much I have to pay, and try to pay things off ASAP before I also have to start paying for the other things.

i know it stinks about spending all the deposit money, but its better that you lock in a rate now before prices go up! I'm actually worried when it gets closer to my wedding, as most of my vendors seem to want the payment 2 weeks beforehand... my accounts gonna be emptied then!

Thats what i'm dreading the most too, paying off everything right before the wedding, thats going to be crazy

Yep - all of a sudden you watch your bank account going up from saving and then - nothing.

Yea, locking in the rates is exactly what I'm trying to do. I guess it's just driving me a little crazy because in the last two months I put deposits on:
RH: 500 photo: 690 DJ: 400 florist: 100
and then tonight my 2nd RH deposit: 1500
which is a total of $3,190 in deposits in only 2 months and I still want to book more stuff just so I can get a true budget. And then with school?? I am trying to drive myself straight to the looney house.

I havent booked any vendors yet...but am actually a bit happy about the deposits...makes me feel like I am getting payments out of the way. Thankfully I started a wedding fund before we got engaged, so I'm planning to use all that money, so I dont feel like I am breaking the bank. And thankfully my parents are making the 1st few deposits to the RH

I had a a wedding fund also before i got engaged. Only a few thousand but at least it was a start and it doesn't make me feel bad.
I haven't touched it yet

wow, you ladies were smart. I didn't have a pre wedding fund because I didn't think engagement would be in the forecast for a while! I guess i'm just feeling the blunt force of it now because i'm trying to book all the big things, but it will feel good once I have all these deposits out the way and can just focus on the remaining balance.

I started a wedding fund because I was waiting for my ring for too long!!! I couldn't wait for him to give it to me to start putting money aside.

It's better to get the prices now then waiting until next year. I need to get am ove on my photographer, videographer & DJ before end of the year but I'm not really into a big rush.
Limos aren't one of my biggest expenses so that can wait.
I already got my dress and have the RH booked, putting my deposit down Thursday.

I feel the same way. Ive been putting so much money down that fh and I are almost broke. My RH wants another payment next month and we already have booked band, photographer, videographer, and rh. It all adds up to be so much. I wish I saved more!

yeah, it's overwhelming. i agree though, i really want to lock into prices now. trying to convince FH that we NEED to book DJ like yesterday. After that, we only have the florist. Holy cow that's a great feeling!

I'd really love to book some vendors (even though it is early), but the deposits do add up! So I have to wait..

Re: Holy Moly Deposits..another long one
deposites are why i havent even began to look anywhere for vendors yet... my WM payments are alot... even though they are spaced 3 mnths apart,... everything adds up... and my last few payments are like $2,500 or 3,000
