Re: Home Alarm

we just got Slomins. we did have an upgrade though, it was already in the house, but it was fairly reasonable and they were here yesterday all day installing it and everything, like 8-9 hours!! he worked his butt off, we gave him pizza and a bottle of soda, it was hot upstairs in our attic!! anyway

my parents had one installed too... i think the installing is about maybe $800-$100 then most companies vary from about $20.00-$25.00 monthly

P.S. we have the fire alarm as well hocked up to the central station as well!! DH was sooo for that feature!!

Re: Home Alarm

depending on if your house was pre-wired for it-you may have to go wireless. Our new home was not wired, so what was supposed to have been a $99 installation turned into a $225 installation fee. All equipment was free and it's $40 a month for alarm and smoke detector monitoring. We have 3 doors covered and 1 set of windows since they are easily accessible, and a motion detector for the down stairs where access is easiest.

We went with ADT. You want a company that has direct monitoring, the response is MUCH faster than if you are dealing with a monitoring service that monitors your home, THEN contacts the alarm company.

We use Lowitt Alarms, they are based in Nassau somewhere. It was already installed, we just continued the contract. So far no problems or complaints. Quite a few houses in my area use them, I see the signs in the windows.

standard security (like standard oil) has a promotion - you get 900 of free equipment.

we ended up paying for $500 more and $26.95 a month maintence
