Ok Ladies, need your opinions. After talking to FH last night about where we are going to register, he suggested Home Depot. Of course - it's a guy thing! But, after we talked about it more I thought maybe it wasn't such a bad idea. I think we wouldn't actually register but maybe but somewhere on the shower invitations that we would also appreciate Home Depot gift cards. Is this okay?? We just figured that when we buy a house (hopefully right after the wedding) we will most likely need to do a lot of fixing up and painting, etc. What do you think of this idea?

I think that is fine. FH's cousin had that in her bridal shower invitations and people bought Home Depot gift cards.

well you can't put yourself that you would appreciate home depot gift cards bc the whole shower thing is that someone else hosts it for you(even if you are planning it) since its a party that is required for guests to bring gifts. Thats why its a surprise and why someone else hosts it bc they say a person cant ask people for gifts, but if its thrown for them its ok. Or word it so it says, the couple would welcome home depot gift cards or have your bp or mom spread the word
Maybe you can set up some type of thing where ppl can get just gift cards at home depot for you

I think home depot is a great option. I know people that registered for BBq's and stuff!

yeah, I am not involved in the planning but my MOH asked me where I was going to register and when we thought of this idea I just wanted to get ideas of how she can word this on the invites

is she putting the registry cards for each store or putting the stores you are registered at on the invite...if its on the invite list the stores and say ' and home depot gift cards welcomed' or something to that effect

I think this is a great idea. FH and I just bought a house and are realizing how great it would be to have help from Home Depot. Even just gift cards are great!

Home Depot is a GREAT registry. I keep trying to convince FH to register there but he won't - we already have two registries and he thinks three is too much. Imagine trying to convince your FH to register for TOOLS!
I wouldn't say anything about wanting gift cards. Not in the invite.
Just register for them. Register for some tools, some garden items, and lots of gift cards.
Don't put that anywhere in writing. Have your MOH and fam spread the word.
