Homeowners: Do you receive letters/mailings from realtors...

looking to buy your home or a home in your neighborhood?

We get them quite often and I was just wondering if they're legit or if it's just 'marketing'.

I have no idea if they are legit, but we get them quite often.
Once someone (not a realtor) wrote us a note making an offer on our NOT for sale house, and stuck it in our mailbox!

we get some often. We received a letter telling us what outr house is worth/appraised for...how the heck to they know

Yep and some are legit.
We got one when we bought our home, with OUR HOME listed on it, and the asking price and price we paid were correct.
and we also heard of houses on the block and what they asked/sold for, and they were correct on the listings in the mail...
We like getting them...its nice to see the value of homes go up and up (and not down and down)

We always get realtors asking us if we are interested in selling. Just yesterday one was coming door to door b/c she has people interested in the area.

Yeah, I've had realitors come up to us in the summer when we're outside working in the yard and ask us if we are interested in selling and asking to come inside for a look around! Ummmmm NO!

I have even had the realitor that sold us our house stop by one day invited herself into the house (which I was stupid to let her in) to 'see all the work we put into it'. She then commented that we got our house at a really great price and asked us that since we put all of this work into the house and the value has greatly increased, would we list it under her and see if we get a 'bite'. W T F?????

I get it all the time for my land. They send me letters telling me how much I paid for it (which is very easily to find the info for b/c I have accessed how much the person next to me paid for her land), how much they want to offer me and then after taxes and fees how much they will write me a check for.

I just throw them away

All the time. We live in a new planned community and we get them. I am like what the heck we have only been here a few months

Constantly. It gets to be annoying, but we just throw them away.

Constantly ... but I love looking at the values in my area and what my house is worth now ... so it really doesn't bother me as much. I know that the way realtors make money is by getting sellers, but it can get annoying!
