FH wants to have an engagement party. I think it's way too late. We've been engaged since last Valentines Day (2010) I think because we're going to get an apartment soon, he thinks it's a good time to have one.
FH and I were planning on having an engagement party, but decided against it when my grandfather passed away shortly after we got engaged. This all happened in May-June 2009. We bought an apartment in June 2010, and had our apartment warming in Sept 2010. It pretty much served the same purpose of an engagement party, since both of our families were there.

Re: Honest opinions
It depends. What is your reasoning for having the e-party?
For my FH and I it was important to have our families meet and mingle before the big day. We have a lot of family and had 85 people at the eparty so they could get to know eachother and of course celebrate our engagement.
If you feel similar to this, then I would say have the eparty, but soon! Before you know it - the STD's and shower invites will be sent out and it may seem like overkill to your guests.
I hope this helps, it was my honest opinion

It's not too late yet IMO but, if you're going to do one... I would definitely do it soon!

Re: Honest opinions
It sounds more like a housewarming party. If you want why not call it an engagement/housewarming party.

Re: Honest opinions
I agree that you should call it a house warming party instead of an engagement party.

I agree with this! Especially if some people had sent you gifts when you first got engaged.
FH and I were engaged 2 years ago, and we personally did not care to have an E-Party. But some family members had sent us cards w/ gifts for our engagement. So if this happened to you as well those guests could bring a small housewarming gift.

I think it may be too close to your wedding, especially if you've been engaged for a while. I agree with the other girls- have a housewarming!
