Not stupid at all. It is a great idea. But I would think only the people nearest to the aisle would really be able to participate.

Re: HONESTLY!!!! IS this stupid???????
We're getting married at the hall, so I'm planning to do the same thing, and two nights ago I had a dream where none of the rose petals reached into the aisle! I had never even thought about that problem before!
But the people sitting further away can still throw them, right? It would just be like confetti flying everywhere.

Sorry - I voted nah @ first because I didn't read your whole post that you are getting married @ the hall and not in a church.
With that being said and - I think its a great idea and agree with how nice that look in pictures.

We are getting married at the hall also, and I am thinking of either rose petals or confettie. I want a black and white pic of us walking down the isle after we are married and the roses/confetti in color. I saw this once and I loved it.

Hey Jill !! I think this is a great idea but like EvenEdan mentioned only those nearest to the aisle would be able to participate. I went to a wedding last month at the North Ritz Club and they had the ceremony outside. On every other chair, they placed a sealed envelope with rose petals inside. Only those very close to the aisle were able to throw it. Unless maybe your photographer can line up a few people at the end of the aisle to throw them. I also love the look of the rose petals in the pictures.....

Our ceremony was outside and the guests tossed the petals at us as we walked back up the aisle so ....... NO, not stupid!!

Re: HONESTLY!!!! IS this stupid???????
honestly, i thought that is kind of how it is done...i mean, i am getting married at the hall too and hopefully, the weather will be nice. right after the ceremony, we are walking down the aisle and into a little room for 10 minutes to chill out, then taking pics, then going to the reception. the only time to throw petals is right after the ceremony.

Re: HONESTLY!!!! IS this stupid???????
I think it is a lovely, celebratory, fun, and beautiful idea. Go for it.
I plan on doing it as well...although I must admit, I am an anti-rose/calla lilly person (trying very hard to go against the grain!) and I am experimenting to find a petal that will flutter as nicely as a rose. A daisy head just kind of plops down, and daisy petals are a bit too small (and brown easily)
Does anyone have any other flower suggestions for good throwing/fluttering??
I love the idea of handing out the petals in glassine (sp?) envelopes with the programs...maybe even affixed to the program with a little note telling them when to throw(you would think people would know when to throw, but I was at a cousins wedding recently, and people started blowing the bubbles as soon as we left the church, through all the bridal party and family coming out, and by the time the bride and groom came out it had lost it's novelty and they didn't have a huge bubble explosion like she had imagined. People can be a little clueless with stuff like that!)

Re: HONESTLY!!!! IS this stupid???????
Bunnymonkey, I heard that bougainvilla (sp?) petals flutter pretty well.
I bought little tulle drawstring bags to put the petals in, and I think we are going to put a note in the program telling people when to toss them, just in case.
