i'm begging my FH to take a cruise out of NYC for me. i don't want to fly. if i'm forced into it i won't do it without massive amounts of tranquilizers. if you flew right after 9/11 like that. you can fly anytime!

I am not flying for that reason. After my last flight which was 2 days before september 11th, I said I would not fly... ever. It was such a terrible flight.

everything will go smooth dispite the situations oversea's. I flew to Rome and it was a nice day and all was well... just bring some music and FH and you'll be there in no time...

I'm scared taking off and landing. The longest flight I have ever been on is to Florida...and for our honeymoon we are flying to Hawaii! I'm pretty nervous but I try not to think about it. Just go to sleep on the flight and before you know it you will be there

OMGoodness!!! I HATE FLYING!!!
Taking off and landing I break out into cold sweats and basically leave nail marks in my FI's hands or whom ever else I know is sitting next to me..
My suggestion.. Have a few drinks at the bar before hand to relax yourself.. once up in the air, try and fall asleep.. it makes the flight go by faster.. If all else fails.. try taking a Tylenol PM.. that will make you fall asleep in no time!
But, I know how you feel!! It can be nerve racking!

Re: Honey Moon....Flying
I kinda feel that it's my patriotic duty to fly. The percentages being what they are, the chance that your flight wil be the one with terrorists on it is infinestely smaller than the on that your plane will crash, and that's much smaller than the chance that your car will crash. So if I'm not afraid of driving, I won't be afraid of flying. I live and work in NYC every single day, so if I was gonna be scared, I would never leave my house.
That being said, I do understand people's fears. But the idea behind terroism is to create an atmosphere of fear, and I can't let that hold me back.
Just my take.

It's not even the terrorist thing..it is everything about flying...Even how that plane crashed in queens right after it took off..it was going to the Dominican Republic..it just like 'fell' out of the sky

Oh, I never had a problem with that. I'm more afraid of driving.

Ladies, I work at the WFC and saw A LOT of awful things on Sept 11th. It took me 2 years to fly and I finally flew in November for the first time and did really well. The sight of planes CLOSE scares me but it's not as bad as I thought it would be. I'm going to Mexico but as long as I have my FH and some music and magazines I'm hoping I'll be fine!

This seems to be when I started to have a fear of flying.. the crash in queens was near where I live & one of my bm's lost her best friend in that crash..
I'm not so much worried about the terrorists, for some reason that doesnt bother me as much as mechanical failer on the plane..
PS: DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIE FINAL DESTINATION!! - that just added to my fear!

Re: Honey Moon....Flying
OMG, I thought I was the only person who refused to fly. I am more than content to never fly across the world or anywhere ever again. No amount of valium could keep me down the last time I was on a plane. I have nothing but bad experiences while flying, and I will sooner row myself in a canoe to Europe than fly!
