Our friends did it for their wedding a few years ago. It was set up like an online store for things you can buy them for their honeymoon 'upgrade for first class tickets' 'candelit dinner for 2 on the town' 'vespa rentals' (they were going to italy)
I added what i wanted to cart, and then wrote them a check for the amount. it was a very cute idea. definitely worth doing. not sure how to set one up though - might have to work through a travel agent? we're going to ireland, and it wasnt on their countries to choose from.

Re: Honeyfund
Just go to the website and sign up. You can customize the items on the list, dollar amount, and how much you want. For a flat fee you can upgrade the site to make it look pretty instead of a plain white page. Then your guests can pay through pay pal, cash, or check. They get a little card that says what they bought and they can put that inside a card for your wedding or shower.

I started to set mine up for our honeymoon, so I'm not totally familiar with it... when do the guests get a card? After they add money to your fund? Do they print it out or is it mailed to them? I love that idea, I just want to make sure mine is set up right for my guests!

Yes they get the card after they pick what they want to purchase. Not sure if they print it out or if its sent to them. My guess is they print it out.

Re: Honeyfund
If you're thinking of using Honeyfund, I'd suggest using Wanderable instead (Link: http://www.wanderable.com/pages/honeymoon_registry). It's prettier and it has no ads. Works pretty much the same way. It's worth a look.

Re: Honeyfund
This is a really cool option. I recently purchased a gift from someone's honeyfund. I selected what I wanted, wrote out a check, & was able to print a certificate as well.
