Honeymoon

Hey Gals,
I have a question: We had planned our honeymoon for Hawaii and it was costing so much money and recently we are starting to put bids in for houses to buy, so we decided to lower our scale of a honeymoon since Hawaii is ultra expensive for us. But it is for September and this means that it is hurrican season, most all other places except Aruba. The thing is we still want to stay the 12 nights. Do any of you have some ideas as to what we could do.
Thanks

Re: Honeymoon

my FH and I are looking into going to the AVENTURA SPA PALACE. it's about 15 miles outside of cancun - all inclusive, adults only... looks hot!

edited to say: you can do a google search on it - but make sure that it says that it's by/near/or is in cancun.

it all depends on how much you'd like to spend?

Oh my God, that sounds like I wrote it!
We wanted to go to Hawaii, but changed our minds when we found out how expensive it was and we didn't want to be 'cutting corners' on our honeymoon. So, we're going to Aruba (hurricane season too) and looking into taking a cruise for the 2nd week out of Aruba to other destinations. That might be an option for you to look into? We're in Oct. so our honeymoon will go into the first week of Nov. when hurricane season is over.
There are so many other places as well (of course you know this) but I was terrified of the hurricane season.

How about a cruise ..... everything like food is included except soda and alcohol and tours, try Cruisevalues.com. Good luck!

Re: Honeymoon

I know some people are against this, however we have chosen to do a cruise to Hawaii. We found it to be the best way for us to go to our dream honeymoon and not put holes in our pockets at the same time. I have been doing research on excursions and tours as well. We got an amazing deal through a wholesale cruise vendor. We couldn't resist the offer!
If you want any information let me know.

Re: Honeymoon

I totally second a cruise! They totally pamper you, you get to go to a different island everyday, and believe it or not they are generally cheaper than staying on a single island.
They are like staying at a huge floating hotel. Remember they include all of your meals. You would only pay for drinks (alcohol and soda) and your activities off of and some on the boat. But those you can adjust to fit any budget!

We're also doing a cruise to Hawaii. I found Hawaii by land to be too expensive. We were also limited due to hurrican season.

Re: Honeymoon

Karen how long is your cruise for? I can't wait to hear your review on your honeymoon! You are going to have a blast!
Are you staying on the island the cruise leaves from a couple of days before? We plan on doing that. Haven't decided whether staying in Honolulu or Kauai.

Re: Honeymoon

I am going to Zihuatanjeo in Mexico. It is where they go in the Shawshank Redemption. It is located 150 miles North of Acapulco on the Pacific Coast of Mexico.
We are staying in a suite with AC & Satallite TV for $199 a night. The airfare was about $1700 for the 2 of us to fly coach- which we are.

There are some very inexpensive hotels that were reviewed in teh NYTimes travel section that are b/w $60-70/night. Check out www.zihuatanejo.net

We are going on Norwegian on the Norwegian Star. It is for 7 days. I would totally recommend who I used to book the cruise. Forum mail me on the cabin details, if you like.

We are thinking Brazil or Belize and they both price out to about $2500 per person for about 8-9 dys in private bungalows. Worth checking out.

I went to belize last year for a vacation. It was very inexpensive. Went to Ambergris caye. I wouldn't say it was the lap of luxury but it was very nice and unique. I would definitly go back. They had hotels for about $75 a night and dinners usally ran us about $30 for two people. It was alot cheaper than anywhere else I've been and really just as beautiful.
