Re: Honeymoon
I'm a huge fan of cruises. We just booked an 11 night cruise to Hawaii for the HM. There's a great vendor on this site - Cruiseone.
Good Luck!!!!

Re: Honeymoon
Yeah, I guess more information would be helpful! haha
My beautiful fiancee and I are getting married in August and are trying to find a nice cruise that leaves out of NY or the east coast preferably.
Thanks in advance for any help you all could provide.

Re: Honeymoon
Ooh a cruise in August leaving from the East Coast - here is the obvious answer: GO TO BERMUDA!!! Ahh so lovely! I took a cruise from Boston to Bermuda in August of 1999 and it was fabulous. They also leave from New York which would be even easier for you.

I think Bermuda is where we're leaning! What cruise line did you take Valencia? Any suggestions?
Thanks!

There is a Carnival ship, a new one, the Spirit leaving from NY to Bermuda this summer. My fh just booked it as a vacation for us this summer.

Re: Honeymoon
I took the Norwegian Majesty which was the only choice out of Boston. Since I live in Boston, this made the decision for me. It was so relaxing to hop in a cab and and 15 minutes later be at my vacation resort!
Looks like your choices from NY are:
DEPART SUNDAY: Norwegian Sea Royal Caribbean - Nordic Empress
DEPART WEDNESDAY: Carnival Cruise Lines - Carnival Pride
My suggestion is to visit Epinions, Fodors, etc to read the reviews!

Re: Honeymoon
Also try www.cruisecritic.com which has tons of advice in a message style board for every cruise ship out there! We took a Celebrity cruise (Millenium) for our honeymoon in Europe and it was fabulous.

Re: Honeymoon
I took the Celebrity Horizon Cruise to Bermuda last summer! (Someone told me the Horizon is nicer than the Zenith - bigger).

Re: Honeymoon
DO NOT GO ON THE NORWEIGN SEA!!!!! The food is awful, and it is like an old age home on water, the staff is rude etc. Also it is hurricane season in August......

Re: Honeymoon
Hurricane season should not be a huge concern when going to Bermuda because of how far north it is. Its much more of a worry if going to the Caribbean that time of year. You are at as much risk as you would be planning a trip to North Carolina in August.

Re: Honeymoon
My mother cruised to Bermuda recently. If you are interested, ask her on the Future-In-Laws board...her 'name' is 'AprilMIL'. Good Luck planning!

Re: Honeymoon
Last summer I cruised on the Celebrity Horizon to Bermuda, and it was wonderful. It wasn't a mega liner, but the rooms were decent sized, the decor seemed to be a bit outdated, but it was still great. The ship was clean, the staff was very accommodating, and the food was out of this world. I definitely think that if you're heart set on Bermuda, cruising is the way to go, it's really expensive to eat on the island, and of course, on a cruise, all of your meals are taken care of. The ports that we docked in were very convenient, and the locals were very nice. Nothing like the people in Mexico who try to sell you anything as you walk down the road. For the most part, the island had a relaxed atmosphere, and the beaches were amazing. It's definitely the perfect place for a honeymoon, IMO. I went on the trip with my family, and right now I'm trying to convince FH that we should book our honeymoon on the Horizon, it was really a dream trip.

Re: Honeymoon
I'd like to 'pipe in' my 2 cents about the Horizon. I took the cruise to Bermuda this past May and it was GREAT !! I was totally undecided between the Zenith and the Horizon, and I was told there are really not many differences, they are VERY similar sister ships. Well one differences that was my 'flip of the coin' decision, the Horizon gives all passengers a $50 card (spending money) EACH, for Bermuda shopping (off the ship only). DH and I got ourselves a new Fossil watch each !
Its amazing how many people didnt realize that it was REAL spending money, alot of people thought there was a catch... I should have stood outside the ship asking for unused cards, LOL...
