How does it work? DO u have to go through a travel agent? Does a travel agent cost more? When should you book a honeymoon?

We might go either way. I have never used a travel agent before. I am more inclined to be in control of out travel plans, however we might have a HM that requires a lot of planning, so que in the agent. We are planning on deciding if we are going to use one when we decide what kind of HM we want.

we are going to be booking our Honeymoon a year out from when we are going (so booking Nov/Dec of 2010 for Nov/Dec 2011). We are going to Couples Swept Away in Jamaica and they offer early bird specials when you book a year or more in advance so we are going to take a advantage of that.
For us, we've been there before, and we didn't use a travel agent last time. We actually book everything through the website (hotel and airfare). I think this time though I am going to not book the airfare through them and just do hotel and book airfare separately to try and find the best deal.

We booked Sandals in the Bahamas on our own. They have specials throughout the year, you just have to keep checking. It was easy, really didn't need a travel agent.
My friend used a travel agent for her honeymoon in Costa Rica, but it was because they wanted to visit a few different sites, so they needed a travel agent to book different hotels and transportation and activities for them.

Usually travel agents don't cost more. We're going to go through a travel agent just because I don't want to stress out about making sure things are booked and what to do once we get there. The TA takes care of everything.

i ahve used a TA before. I have never paid extra. I actually got the vacation cheaper than if I was doing it on my own. ( I researched prices after I met with them and before I booked) I liked it b/c they took care of transfers to the hotel/resort from the airport etc

we are going to Hawaii & we did everything on our own. I priced it with a travel agent first & we ended up paying less then they quoted us by doing in ourselves.
