We are going to Floriday, orlando area and then going on a cruise to Bahamas for a few nights. Not too much flying for us either.

BUT, if you want tropical and less of a flight, try Cancun! I went there a couple years ago and I actually liked it better than Oahu. Cheaper, less travel, and amazingly beautiful. You can go see Mayan ruins, scuba, snorkel, go to the jungle excursions... could be a good alternative!
There are so many islands you can go to.. Bermuda is something like 2.5 hours flight time.

We are thinking of going to the Carribean and doing something similar. I've already done Cancun so we want to try someplace new to both of us. I LOVED it though.
If you decide to go to Florida, St Petes is absolutely beautiful. I seriously could not believe we were still in America. I felt like we were on a tropical island.
FH is not a fan of flying at all...hasn't flown since he was about 5 and is afraid but he agreed he wanted to go to Hawaii so we are taking direct flights from JFK. We are also doing a lot of interisland flights. I guess he has just come to accept that he has to learn to fly at some point. If you really don't think he can do it, then I would look into one of the Caribbean islands.
