After alot i mean ALOT of thinking and talking me and my FH have decided to go to Atlantic City for our honeymoon because we cannot afford to go elsewhere. (We want to spend 2000-2500) Also I am scared of planes. Do you think it's tacky to go to A.C for your honeymoon?

No, if you guys both love it there... why not. Who cares what other people think. If its not in your budget, go for it! FH and I enjoy going to AC. I love it esp. at night when all the lights are lit up and we can walk by the beach. Fun times

I don't think that it is tacky. There are plenty of hotels that are really nice. There are many things to do there! If that is where you want to go then I say go for it. It is about spending time with FH as a &

Re: Honeymoon at A.C.?
Honestly, you can have a great time in ac and if that is what is in your budget, then go for it. I would suggest staying at the harrah's, they have a beautiful pool, very las vegas style. You can go to the tropicana where there are great resturants and if you guys are into clubs then you can have a good time as well.

One more suggestion, not sure how you feel about boats, but why not price a cruise? some leave form new york so that would eliminate flying and the are all inclusive so you really are paying a good deal of the cruise up front. Some cruises are VERY reasonable, im often shocked by their prices. It's worth a shot!

Re: Honeymoon at A.C.?
Thanks, I was nervous that people (Family and friends) would think that it is like cheap or make fun of us for going. But I LOVE the tropicana and we thought if we save money by going there we can get like 2 massages each in a week and just party, and have a great time.
We were thinking either on our 1 year or 5 year anniversary to go all out for the Honeymon that we deserve (and can finally pay for).

Re: Honeymoon at A.C.?
My FH were going to do the same thing b.c we get married in Nov and didnt want to go anywhere and waste our vacation time. I actually ended up winning a cruise but I have to say def going to A.C. is not cheesy! They have really nice options and I think its better than the pocono's b.c there is so much things to do! Also if you are scared of flying I would def do something locally! If you were planning to stay in a cheesy hotel like the driveup ones then it is bad. But staying in Tropicana or Bogota or Harrahs(the pool is sick!) is like going somewhere far far away!
What about Ct and Foxwoods, and then drive around New England??

I agree...Foxwoods is less than an hour from newport, rhode island and the beach there is really pretty and they have cute little towns with shops and huge mansions -- it's a cute place and also Providence, Rhode Island has bars and nightlife.

Whoa, I was looking at the Harrah's website. The pool there IS sick. I didn't know that it was so nice there!

Re: Honeymoon at A.C.?
I dont think AC is cheesy...especially if it's whats feasible. After all that's said and done, you have to do what's best for you and FH, and if a pricey HM isn't in that equation, so be it. And I totally hear you on the planes...if we end up going to greece (which isn't even a definite, for same reasons as yourself), I'm going to have to be seriously medicated so I don't flip.
I'll jump on the Newport bandwagon as well...that's where we're probably going to go for our 'mini-moon' after the wedding, since we'll do a bigger trip in summer. It's close, and it's cute.

Re: Honeymoon at A.C.?
I totally agree AC is a great idea. Dont listen if anyone gives u a hard time!!
if u want other ideas:
i like the cruise idea! there is a royal caribbean one tht brings u to bermuda from NJ. i took it lthree years with the fam (dont remember how much it cost grandma paid for 30 of us to go for a week!!) i dont believe it was that expensive!
another idea, is hve u discussed with FH doing a honeymoon registry? Even if u decide u still def wanna go to AC, u can register for ur honeymoon online and ur guests can give a gift of paying for a portion of your honeymoon, or for your massages or dinners at diff restaurants! Then no matter where u go, itll cost u less! if u stay with AC, u may end up having ur whole trip given as gifts and save that 2000-2500 for ur future.

I like AC… I would also recommend Cape May I don’t know if it’s you thing… I love Cape May… It’s so romantic there… you can book few nights in some cute bed and breakfast. Also, your wedding is “off season” -you should be able to get some good rates

Re: Honeymoon at A.C.?
I don't think AC is 'tacky' at all, especially if it's what you and FH want to do. Being that your wedding is in Nov and you don't want to fly anywhere, I think it's a great idea. Another idea is to do a night or two in Manhattan first; stay in a lavish hotel and eat at a super deluxe restaurant?
