honeymoon bridal registry from '08er

Has anyone ever used honeymoonwishes.com or a similar site? Did you like using them? Did you get the money fast and before your honeymoon?

Also, though you are registering for things such as a hotel room upgrade or dinner for two... they arent giving you gift cards, but really a check (money) for using it on what you requested right?

Any info. will help! Thanks!

I think it is such a great idea. We have been living together for almost 6 months and have almost everything we need! There are only a few little odds and ends that we need and I dont want to get duplicate items that we already own and then need to either store or return!
Plus we are paying for everything ourselves and this would help!

I researched these sites in GREAT detail. There are many many stipulations. I really wanted to do this but as I called these companies and really researched it, it doesn't seem to be worth it and I opted against it.

They take a % from your guests or a % of the total your guests spent

You just get one check of the total amount all of your guests spent. I thought they actually bought tickets for parasailing etc.

It takes a week or more for the check to be mailed so if you're leaving for your honeymoon right after, you won't have most of the $$ anyway.

There is a charge every time you request your check to be sent. So If you request the check a few weeks before the wedding, then after the wedding you're getting charged twice.

Too much hassle though it seemed like a great idea

humm.. I see what you mean. I really love the idea, but it almost seems like they are taking money for nothing!
