Honeymoon chatter

We started talking about our honeymoon tonight and definitely know we're going to cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line but not sure yet if we want to go right after the wedding and leave from Miami or delay it by a couple of months and leave out of NY. Where are you all thinking of going? Anyone NOT going on a honeymoon right away?

we're gonna wait about 2-3 weeks until after the holidays. We want a nice 2 week long honeymoon... so we'll probably leave the first or 2nd week of jan.

I have a friend getting married this Oct. who is doing a mini-moon and then they're doing their honeymoon in December. She's a teacher so I think its during her winter break :)

I am an avid cruiser and I will say 100% sail out of Miami. I always choose the leave out of FL over NY. The guests on the ship are nicer, you have better weather, can see more ports, leaving from NY it takes longer to get to ports. The cruise terminal people are nice. All around I feel leaving from FL is better. Feel free to ask me any cruise questions. But if you do leave from FL make sure you fly down the day before and not the day of so you don't have any delays and miss the ship. HTH!

We might take a mini-moon immediatly after the wedding to somewhere close and warm like Bahamas or Aruba. We plan on taking our actual long honeymoon in the spring and going to Italy for a few weeks.

We're going to also do a mini moon right away. The following spring, we are going to go on a Western Caribbean cruise. We vowed to only sail on Celebrity after our last cruise and they don't have the one we want until like May of 2015.

I would definitely sail out of Miami, you'll be able to see more ports that way, and you could also extend the trip and hang out on south beach! Totally win-win!

We've been tossing ideas around too and I we might to a mini-moon in Vegas (one of our favorite spots) and then somewhere big a few months later like Hawaii or Costa Rica. If we don't do that then we'll probably do an all inclusive somewhere in the Caribbean. I'm dying to go to the Excellence Riveria Maya or Sandals Antigua.

Edited for spelling: stupid autocorrect.

We are leaving from NY on the Norwegian Breakaway which is the new boat they are launching this year. It is the largest ship to port in NY. We are leaving the day after our wedding and are doing 12 days to Southern Caribbean.

We're also avid cruisers having left from NY and FL so it's not about that for us, just trying to decide whether we want to wait or not. Thanks for the input though, I totally agree that leaving out of FL gets you more places, places you don't really get to out of NY.

At Soon2BeMrsPy: we were talking about taking that exact cruise but in January 2015 if we choose to wait, I can't wait to hear about it

don't worry i'm not going on a honeymoon until summer of 2015. I am a teacher and its my longest break with the most options! i would have loved to go right after but to be able to afford a wedding it needed to be in the off season and pretty far out we needed 2 years to save so it will have to wait! we want to go to Tahiti :)

We're not going right away. We actually had to book our honeymoon already because I work in a school as well and we're going during the Easter/Passover break, which is about a month after. Our travel agent told us that time was already filling up!

I've never been on a cruise, but I have heard that many people prefer to leave out of Miami rather than NY.
