Honeymoon Dilema.. I really need some advice

Honeymoon Dilema.. I really need some advice

Guyssssssssssss..... Thats me whining!! In dont know where I want to go for our Honeymoon, Ok so I know where i want to go, but its the more expensive of the options.

FH wants to go on a Cruise. We both have never been, but Im not sure I'll have a great time... I know seeing more than one place is exciting, but for only one day? It would go to some great Islands though. Is a cruise all that its cracked up to be? Are there Really that many things to do on the ship? And then the room on the ship is just ok. Yes we ould get a balcony but a suite is what I would want, and what we can't afford...

My choice was to go back to Jamaica, we went there years ago and had an AMAZING time! I love the people, the culture, the country, We were talking about going to Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and Negril and staying three days each at a Sandals in each area. Our Travel agent priced it out so that at from the first to the last location we upgrade our rooms until we are in the suite/conserierge(can't spell) room type. I really want to do that, and its more expensive but by only a few hundred dollars. I really want this option but FH is leaning more towards the cruise! We even started to argue about it a little, and at one point I said, well shoot since you wont even here my option anymore, lets just go on the damn cruise!

My biggest fear is having just and OK time on our Honeymoon. We went to Cancun this summer and didn't really like it. I dont want the same experience. I want to have an amazing time on this trip. And Yes I know things will be different because we're on our honeymoon, but I want this to be really memorable as one of the most amazing vacations we've ever taken.

Help me!!!! Please! Any advice would be great!

Maybe figure out a compromise?? Are there any cruises that go to Jamaica? I think it's important that you both enjoy the honeymoon so you shouldn't go on the cruise just because he wants to - you need to both be happy about the decision.

I thin it depends on what cruise line you go on because I have heard people have a really boring time on a cruise but FH and I loveeee cruising and I would go to jamaica if I didnt already go almost every year. We have done Cranival cruises and I heard Royal craibbean is great too. We had a inside cabin one time and a ocean view the other time and we were only in the room to shower and sleep. There was always something going on and we enjoyed seeing a new island everyday. I think cruises are the way to go even if you cant afford to do a suite.

i think you guys should do so research on tripadvisor and in mags, look at the pros and cons and try to come up with something you both will love

I think you two should sit down and discuss it. Traveling is really expensive ( so I found out!) especially for a honeymoon. IMO I wouldn't do the cruise only because you only get to see things on a time limit. I am going on a cruise for our honeymoon because A. it's the cheaper of the two things that we wanted to do and B. Italy's weather is like here in the winter. I would way look at the cruise itinerary and see how long the boat docks on each island. Our cruise docks at 4 out of 5 ports for 7 hours! I thought that was enough time to do things. I've never been on a cruise either and I am skeptical as well! HTH GL!

FH and I went on a cruise 2 years ago and we are STILL both depressed when we think about it or look at pictures! We had the BEST time!! We went with Norwegian- we loved every minute! They are really affordable too. We just went right out of NY to Miami, Port Canaveral, FL, Nassau, Bahamas and Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas. We swam with the dolphins in Miami and with Stingrays in Nassau.

Make sure you read the newsletter thing they give you in your room- we didn't the first two days and didn't realize everything there was to do on the ship! They give you a whole schedule and timeline of activites available.

I'm sure you'd have a great time.

I was in the same situation as you were. I wanted a cruise and FH didn't. So, when FH and I looked at Travel Brochures, we decided that a cruise is our best option because we are going to Europe.

As far as you going to the Islands, maybe you can mix up the two. Do an all inclusive for 5 days and then a weekend cruise. There are so many short cruises in the Islands that I can bet you will be able to find one. Good luck and let us know what you decide!

FH and I had a similiar situation. I really wanted to do a cruise so we can see a lot of places and I thought it would be romantic to have breakfast or dinner on our balcony. Oh and get dressed up for formal nights. Fh was skeptical about a cruise because he doesnt like the idea of being on someones time schedule

FH wanted to just go to the Bahamas and stay at Atlanits. Somewhere he has always wanted to go. I've already been to the bahamas, but not Nassau

Solution:
We got a balcony instead of a mini-suite so the cruise would be cheaper. We chose a different cruise that left out of FLL instead of PR so airfare was cheaper and we are also going to Atlanis for 5 days. So we are both getting to do what we want and we're happy with our HM.

oh by the way, Norwegian you are on your own schedule! (besides when the ship leaves the ports haha). It's called 'Freestyle Dining' and you can eat whenever and wherever you want! And you're not at a table with strangers. There is also a dress code in some of the restaurants if you want to dress nice, you won't be sitting across from a guy in shorts and a wifebeater :)

I'm not a fan of a cruise just bacause on my honeymoon I want to be in one place and just relax but I also want a place with a nightlife as well. I think we are headed to Puerto Rico. You don't need a car...there are great hotels and beaches and you don't have to do all inclusive if you don't want too..there's a million restaurants right outside the hotel...Check out El San Juan Hotel and Casino...it's beautiful!!

Re: Honeymoon Dilema.. I really need some advice

are those the only two options you are considering? if so, im sure you can find some way to compromise on them together and find somethign you'll both enjoy - just talk it out. you may also want to look into some of the other islands if you are set on a caribbean honeymoon - i've been to jamaica, barbados, aruba, and cancun and i have to say aruba was my favorite HANDS DOWN. it was beautiful, the weather was great, the people are so friendly, and theres a LOT to see and do. Barbados is awesome too, and we swam with sea turtles there!

for anyone considering aruba, definitely stay at one of the casino resorts on palm beach and definitely go all inclusive - otherwise food and drinks can get really expensive there. we stayed at what is now the westin, and the food was great (awesome breakfast buffet!), the staff was so nice and helpful, and the beach was beautiful. we were just on vacation for no particular reason, but there were a lot of people on their honeymoon there.

I love cruises! Everything is like right there on the ship! Why don't you find a cruise that goes to Jamaica. Or maybe the travel agent can do a shorter cruise then an extended stay in Jamaica or wherever you would want to go. Kinda like 4 days on land 3 days on sea or for as long as your honeymoon is. We were looking at the land/sea cruise for the Disney ship, I'm sure other cruise ship co. have something similar.

My Fh won't go on a cruise.. his answer to me is 'haven't you ever seen the movie Titanic?' Uhh hello! we aren't going to iceland... he's such a PIA...

FH and i went on a cruise to the bahamas and LOVED IT!!! we were only in the bahamas one day but we still had an amazing time and on the ship there are definitely TONS to do. you will not be bored. we met some really great people as well and FH is not exactly the social type lol. We sailed on Carnival

Jamaica is also AMAZING. we stayed at Sandals in Negril and the water was the best ive ever seen! so clean and warm!!!!

We couldnt decide what to do for our honeymoon either so we chose one week in Punta Cana, DR and one week on a cruise to the southern caribbean with Royal Caribbean that way we get a little bit of both.

Do something that will incorporate both your wants. I wanted to go to aruba or jamacia, fh is obsessed with disney so we are going to settle on a disney cruise, where you spend half on land in disney and half on the sea :)
