I am having a honeymoon dilemma and don't know what to do! Please Help!!! We are paying for the ENTIRE wedding by ourselves. When we get married we will be engaged for exactly 1 year. We rent a whole house so our rent is the same as some peoples mortgage. While saving for the wedding we are also planning to start house hunting (if we don't buy the one we are in now) right after the wedding.
We are doing fine with saving for the wedding and are almost done saving for it. The problem is that doesn't include the honeymoon. For that we need around another $6000 that will be Very hard to save up for. FH had an idea the other day and I am torn with what to do. He thinks that we should still take off the week after the wedding and do things around here like go to Montauk for a couple of nights, go boating (we have one) to Fire Island and around here. We would then go on our true Honeymoon in Feb. (I can't take vacation in Nov., Dec. or Jan.) I just don't know if I am OK with this. Some times I think what is the big deal and then other times I feel like if we do that then the trip in Feb. would be a vaca not a honeymoon.
What do you ladies think?

what about doing a less expensive honeymoon? Jet blue has cheap flights to puerto rico, aruba, bahamas, etc.... and you dont have to stay in 5 star hotels. And if worse comes to worse- take out a loan for the honeymoon- that's what we're doing.

We are thinking about that also.

IMO if its between a house and a honeymoon....i would pick the house.....but if thats not the issue i think maybe you could go to like a cute place locally or upstate maybe on a lake for the week and then go in feb. But I have seen brides who put the entire wedding on a credit card (like a marriot rewards or something) and then use the miles or points for their honeymoon...if you are paying for the wedding yourself that might be an idea

I think your FH came up with a great idea. You are on your way to a home, and you are going to do something bug in Feb...there are alot of great things to still do here the week after the wedding...esp relax!

What about doing an all inclusive HM? I am sure they have great rates out there that won't break the bank!

Take the time soon after the wedding to relax and enjoy each other. Whether or not you consider the latter trip a vaca or HM I'm sure you will have a blast.
P.S. FH and I are taking a few days after the wedding for a mini-moon and taking our HM in November almost two full months after our wedding. You have to do what works best for your situation

I agree you can all inclusive honeymoon and still stay at a nice hotel and maybe lower your budget a bit to make it happen.

We are actually planning on doing an all inclusive. We just have certain things that we want like an ocean view that bring up the price. We kind of feel that we don't want to settle since it is our honeymoon.
Thanks for all the help girls!!!
