We were looking forward to going on an Alaskan cruise for our honeymoon - from looking online now, it seems that the last cruises of the season are in September.
I'm so disappointed, we are going to have to postpone it until May. Now I dont know what we're going to do for a honeymoon!

you don't have to go on your honeymoon RIGHT after the wedding. We're getting married in April - but not planning to honeymoon until that summer. There's no rule telling you they have to be right after each other. You can still have your dream! Be creative!!!

Take sort of a mini honeymoon getaway right after your wedding (Poconos) and plan the big one for May.

I am also postponing my honeymoon because FH starts Law School a week after the wedding. We are going to take a 3 day mini-honeymoon after the wedding and then go for 2 weeks in December on our real honeymoon. At first I was disappointed too, but now I'm glad we are doing this since we get to go away right after the wedding and then stll have something to look forward to a few months later.

A mini HM right after the wedding and a longer one later can be very nice because you get 2 HM's

Don't Worry!! we aren't leaving for our honeymoon for 2 weeks after, I work for the NYC schools, so I have to wait for my Easter break, we are getting married 3-27-04, also a cruise.. I hear they r so Much FUN!!!

We have to postpone ours also - probably for almost a year!! We are going on a mini-moon the weekend after out East (staying at Marriott) for a 3-day weekend just for some rest.

We may have to delay our honeymoon too! We're getting married May 30 but then I have grad school classes like 2 days later. I have to go straight through the summers so we may go on our honeymoon over my Dec-Jan break. But I never thought about having a mini honeymoon too...hmm....

That's what are problem is - FH is going back to school 2 days after our wedding (the big day - Aug. 31st; 1st day of classes - Sept. 2nd) to finish up a couple more credits to get into the Police Academy in January.
So, I came up with the idea of the mini-moon - We are going to stay at the Marriott in Islandia (far enough from home, and close to the outlet stores and Splish Splash!!) from the Friday after to Sunday night. They have a 'romantic getaway' package, includes room service breakfast for $169 a night. So, we can also save $$$ for our big honeymoon too.

Alaska waters are too cold and icy to have cruises after September. I think going on a 3 day mini-moon is fine and then going on your longer HM later is a nice way to 'recapture' your wedding feelings.

we have to do the same thing, since i am a teacher, i wont be able to go away for that long in november. so my fh and i decided that we will go away to aruba for a short honeymoon, and then take a cruise in august when i have time off from school.

FH would love to go to Alaska for HM... Our weddin is also in October, so he was very disappointed. He also pointed out that for 6 months out of the year alaska has more hours of dark then of light. I assume its probably then! Good Luck! Check out cruises up to New England/ Canada, at least its still 'cool'.
