honeymoon expense panic

Ok, So wedding is months away and we have no money put aside for it. I am seriously starting to panic. I was just going to open up a CC but, my parents said it is not a good idea to start off a marriage in debt.

why not put it on your cc now and make it your goal to pay it off by the wedding?

Yeah i know how you feel, we just dont have the money for it right now either. So we are actually just going to Florida for a week, then when the rates drop in the fall we are going on our real honeymoon. LOL. That was the only way we could afford it.

you don't have to go far away to have a honeymoon...you can go to a nice bed & breakfast upstate or the L I vineyards for the weekend.

you can also do a honeymoon registry instead of or in addition to a regular registry at a store.

we each have ING savings accounts. FH has paycheck direct deposited into checking, and then each month a set amount is put into his 'honeymoon savings' ING account

it does it automatically so you dont need to think about it and you forget about the $$$ until you see how it adds up

i highly recommend doing something like that

edit: he figured up how much his half was, divided it by the months we had left, and made that the monthly amt that needed to go in .

go on a cruisee! Norwegian cruise line leaves out of ny and goes to the carribean. just a thought :-\

we cruise twice a yr, so its not hat expensive.basic room for 8 nites is about 700 pp leaving out of ny.. u can fly to miami and go on a 7 nite for like 300$

we booked with Liberty Travel and you can pay a little as a 3rd and the rest a month before your HM.

You can go on a honeymoon later on, FH and I plan on doing that because any $$ we have is going toawrds the wedding...and a HM is really like another vacation if you and FH go on vacations together, so you can do a min-honeymoon. then do a honeymoon later on down the line
