Honeymoon flight

Honeymoon flight

Hey ladies! We're looking into flights for the HM and i don't know if I should get first class or not! Sooo much money for the HM, I feel like we could spend the extra money elsewhere.

Are any of you getting first class flights? I heard some airlines will upgrade you day of if you tell them you're on your honeymoon.

Thanks ladies!

I was told by someone to get regular. When you go to check in - be all excited tell them you just got married honeymoon yada yada - they may upgrade you to be nice and sentimental! She advised to use the 'honeymoon card' where ever you got!

nah we're not going first class. there are no direct flights to cabo, so i don't think it would really matter that much. would rather use the money on the actual honeymoon.

I wish I could be upgraded to first class or even business class but we are flying southwest and I don't think they do anything for honeymooners.

where are you flying to?

we are not flying first class bc we are taking jet blue and there is no first class..we did upgrade to the extra leg room seats tho!

and i agree with others, use the 'honeymoon card' save the money for things to do on the HM!

Re: Honeymoon flight

does your airline have the offer to upgrade? some of them do at the airport if its not a full flight and they may make it for less $$ then you'd originally pay!!!!!!!

ohhh i heard Bali is beautiful! I may be going there next year when I go visit my friend in HK. I dont know about upgrading to first class just because the cost is so much. Are you doing a direct flight? Maybe try business class but even that is expensive. Definitely try and get extra leg room because that flight is long!

I've heard the best is to fly first class there, and economy on the way back, cause by then you wont care! We're only going to the Bahamas and we're taking jetblue so theres not an option, but if we were going somewhere far like hawaii, I would consider first class for the way there

I did the same thing - extra leg room - no first class on Jet Blue. What is the price difference? If its not too much I would do it - when else would you fly first class and not feel guilty about paying the extra $$?

Crashing...

This all depends on where you go. If you are going to St. Lucia (like DH and I did) everyone on the flight was honeymooners. But if you are going someplace that is not just a honeymoon spot this might work. I hope it works for you and I wish we would have thought of this (even though everyone was honeymooners).

*CRASHING*

I didn't want to chance it and we booked Frist Class to Hawaii on Alaska Airlines. We booked with a companion ticket for $99 so the flight for both of us is under $2k... This is normally over $3k. Delta wouldn't allow us to use the companion ticket for any destination outside of 48 states.

That said we tried to use miles to upgrade and other options before we booked this and there were no more flights available in First Class to upgrade.. or they were crazy $$..

We booked 10 months before and left plenty of time so my guess is they will hold out for the $$$.

Its a risk depending on the upgrade. I've heard a few people request it and NOT GET IT on their HM. Also upgrades come first come, first serve so if you were thinking about doing this I'd make sure you show up 3 hours before, which is when you are allowed to first check in for flights.

We did first class and loved it!!! I think we drank 3 bottles of bubbly on our 4 hour flight - it was amazing!! You only get married once and you only have one honeymoon - so we wanted to make it extra special.

My brother works for the airlines and he told me to arrive early the day we flight out to our HM and show the marriage certificate and if first class seats are available...they will upgrade you for FREE.

we're def. not getting first class. We're flying Jetblue for our flight and we have never been uncomfortable on any of those flights.

Re: Honeymoon flight

i doubt airlines even do this anymore - but we are not flying first class.
We have a long flight to Europe as well but we would rather save the money for the HM
