Honeymoon frustration!!!

Honeymoon frustration!!!

So after trolling travel agents today it's looking like a honeymoon for christmas week is almost impossible...unless $5000 is spent, most of the price being airfare.

So now the only reasonable option seems to be going to Disney. We have been wanting to go, and have a timeshare we can exchange and the flights are reasonable. But when I think honeymoon I think Corona commercia

So my only thought is to do disney in december, and then a real real honeymoon next summer when I have off from work. I feel like waiting so long takes away from it being a honeymoon.

Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Just be prepared for Disney to be swarming with tons of families during that time.

Where did you want to go? Maybe I can help. I tend to find way better packages than TAs do.

At this point...anywhere with Blue water!!! lol.

But what's killing everything is the airfare being a fortune.

What dates? I live for this stuff. Also, were you looking all inclusive or not? Open to Mexico or just Caribbean?

Jmrosa1 Posted:

Re: Honeymoon frustration!!!

at this point prefer caribbean but open to both. and all incl.

I got info on a travel agent vendor on here...gunna try to email her too...but I will take ANY help! lol

certain places in mexico that I know are usually like 900 sumthing generally are like closer to 1500. due to the airfare increase.

Yeah, it's a rough time to go. I just started looking for you and am finding in the 4500-5k range for all inclusives.

Since you're not going away right after the wedding, maybe do something more in December for a weekend. Was there a reason why you wanted to go in December if the destination isn't your ideal?

Re: Honeymoon frustration!!!

Well I can only go away during school breaks since I am a teacher. We were going to do a weekend getaway until we could do a real honeymoon, but figured why waste the $1000 for a weekend and save it.

We wanted to do disney sometime next year as a vacation too...my FH has never been so wanted to go just us to before a baby is in the mix...lol. So two trip...trying to space them out...and get in a honeymoon in december since that is the first real vacation time I have.

Yes, Christmas time is a very hard time to travel pricewise. Another place to look at is Captiva in Florida. South Seas Plantation - they also have timeshare and if you are doing a mini honeymoon you can play with the dates during that week, The resort is beautiful and is on the Gulf of Mexico. You will still get your beautiful water!

With regard to returning back to school, ask for a personal day on January 2 and fly back that day.

If you decide to go away in February, as soon as the flights become available, book it immediately!
Just think, by February, you will need to get away from all the cold and your students and it is something else to look forward to after all the excitement from the wedding dies down.

Good luck!

LOVE South Seas!

You can at least just fly into Fort Meyer

And the restaurants around the island are all amazing!

Interesting never heard of south seas. I'll check it out. Fortunately I have off the second. Unfortunately there is no February break anymore. It's a 4 day weekend now. Alot of schools are getting rid of it.

So far I have have found good pricing under $3000 for 5 nights in cancun. Was only a couple hundred dollars than a regular priced cancun trip.

Re: Honeymoon frustration!!!

Hi,

How about a cruise? I found this on Princcess:

1 Mon, Dec 26 San Juan/Puerto Rico 11:00 P
2 Tue, Dec 27 Saint Thomas 7:00 A 6:00 P
3 Wed, Dec 28 Tortola 8:00 A 6:00 P
4 Thu, Dec 29 Antigua 8:00 A 5:00 P
5 Fri, Dec 30 Dominica 8:00 A 5:00 P
6 Sat, Dec 31 Barbados 8:00 A 5:00 P
7 Sun, Jan 1 At Sea
8 Mon, Jan 2 San Juan/Puerto Rico 6:00 A

This is a great inenerary! I don't know what your budget is for your honeymoon. A balcony room runs around $1500 per person - oceanview less expensive. You can fly out on either Sunday night or Monday morning.

That does look like a great itinerary!!!! The thing is flights to PR then are $1000 alone per person...on top of cruise costs...which is more than we want to spend.

Thanks for the info!!

I think we are leaning towards cancun...we can actually get there and into a decent hotel for 5 nights under $3000.

Re: Honeymoon frustration!!!

there are no cruises leaving from ny then?????

Jmrosa1 Posted:

Re: Honeymoon frustration!!!

Nope!

There was only 1 or 2 cruises...and one due to the holiday extended from a 7 to 9 day cruise..so I wouldn't make it back to work in time...and the other was just as much money as booking another vacation for 4,000 or 5,000 dollars since they doubled the pricing for the holiday.

Ohhh very nice. I'd do FL beaches. But we are going in Dec and may not really be warm enough to enjoy it.
