I have used this site in the past and am actually aproaching my 1st anniversary.
DH and I were thinking of going to Greece this summer, but not sure if it's in our budget.
Is anyone going there for their honeymoon and visitng the different islands?
If so, would you be able to give me an idea of what the budget is?
Recommendations are appreciated.
TIA!

Re: Honeymoon - Greece ?
I am going to Greece for my honeymoon. We are going to Mykonos, Santorini and Athens. With the Euro, it is turning into a pretty expensive honeymoon. We did book top hotels, so it can definately be done on a cheaper budget,.

We were planning a trip there this summer too, but with the wedding, and the Euro, we decided to hold off, I hear it's beautiful. We have a friend who goes every summer, and loves it, I heard Mykonos is amazing!

When I got married the first time I went to Athens, Mykonos and Santorini. It was 2001 and the whole trip including food was $3500 for 11 nights.

Ahh yes, the good old days, when the the dollar = .7 Euros.....FH and I definately took advantage of that exchange rate. We went to Paris, Amsterdam and Germany. Those days are long over.....

Re: Honeymoon - Greece ?
I just booked Greece/Turkey for 16 days. it came out to 12K w/o taxes +spending $$. But we are taking a lot of flights and staying in HM worthy hotels (santorini prncess/four seasons istanbul etc...) during the peak season so it goes up at least 20 % just b/c of the time of year.
I'm sure you can get better deals if you are more flexible. I booked through kosta @ homeric tours in hicksville. get a quote for what you want and tweak it from there. for example, we are staying in naxos for 3 days and it's $200 +- p/n for the HM suite. in the santorini princess the HM suite was $600+ a night. so we'll stay for less than half the price at naxos b/c it's island where more locals go than tourists.
and you can alsways check tripadvisor for pics of hotels if you're not sure what hotels to use.
edited to say: the best deals are on the cruises b/c the meals are included etc.. but you do sacrifice the nightlife on the islands. i found those to be the cheapest packages though. roberta sonino travel in manhattan does a lot of cruise packages to greece.

FH and i are going to Greece on our HM this June and it's about $7000 with everything (not food or anythign over there of course) We are doing 2 nights in Athens, 3 nights in Mykonos and 4 nights in santorini. Good places too...Athens we are staying at the baby grand (nothing fancy but we aren't here long)...Mykonos grand which was voted number 4 on trip advisor as one of the most luxurious hotels and Strass residences in Santorini which is like a private villa cause tehre are only 3 rooms. My travel agent was great. Homeric tours in Hicksville. If you have any questions please let me know.
