FH's parents told us that we can use their timeshare. They have one at Cocoa Beach, Florida and one in Kissimmee, Florida. Apparently, we can transfer it. I know nothing about this stuff. The only vacations I've ever been on is to the above-named timeshares with FH and his family. I have never been on a plane. I am just slightly terrified. So, anyway, FH's dad told him that we need to tell him where we want to go. He didn't give us a list of places so I am guessing we can just choose anywhere. I suggested the Bahamas or Jamaica to FH. He said the Bahamas sounded good but I am not sure! We need something on the less expensive side. Almost anything would be new and exciting to us. Neither of us have ever left the U.S. We want somewhere with nice beaches, and fun things to do. We will be going in the summer even though we are getting married in March because I am a teacher. So, it will most likely be in July or August. I know that I have not narrowed it down much, but any suggestions? TIA!

Re: Honeymoon Help
Aruba and Bahamas are both beautiful, i would personally stay away from Jamaica unless you are at like a Sandals.. St. Lucia is great too... the possibilities are endless...

I think you should ask your fil for his time share book to see all the places that you can go to and choose from there

Re: Honeymoon Help
i would suggest aruba in your case if youre planning on going in july or august for the reason that its below the hurricane belt. that is the same problem we have because our honeymoon is in the middle of august and we dont want to risk a hurricane.

Re: Honeymoon Help
If the timeshare is with RCI their website is GREAT, but you can only transfer with equal or less (I think red was the highest). Whatever timeshare company they are with....explore the website & get to know the rules first. You don't want to get excited over a unit to find out later you can't trade 'up' to it.....Don't forget to ask, who's paying to the fee's? Trading isn't 'free' per se. Keep in mind, there may be a place you love, but the unit may not be available when you want it. It's best to have several options you will be open to, for greater success.
It would be best, if YOU can see the units instead of just telling him what country/island you want to go to. Each facility offers a lot...or little. From just a bedroom w/mini frig.....to entire condos......even if you say Aruba, there could be 5 different facilities w/in the timeshare (from a hotel....to a resort-style....to an apt.)
Research it!

Re: Honeymoon Help
Thank you for all of the advice! Unfortunately, I am a bit skeptical about this. FH told me about this 'offer' from his parents a while ago and I have been asking him to get more info., ask for a phone number, book, anything so that we can research it and I was getting nowhere. Now FH finally says that his dad wants to know where we want to go. I feel like we are completely removed from the planning of our own honeymoon so this may not work out! Thanks again though, girls!
