Honeymoon Help

My honeymoon if fully refundable at secrets resorts in riviera maya mexico and everyone I speak with tells me I am crazy not to cancel it get my money back and go elsewhere That mexico is not a place to go right now that its really bad there.I know people say just don't leave the resort but we wanted to go to cancun and the pyramids
So I looked at other places I would want to go and I like Excellence Punta Cana Can anybody give me Advice or help me choos where to go?

I went to Secrets Maroma for my honeymoon in the beginning of August. Honestly I really didn't feel unsafe even once. I did notice extra security at the airport and they check your bags before you exit. Like even after you get them from baggage claim. The hotel was really safe and we didnt notice anyone on the beach who wasn't supposed to be there...other than the occasional guy who was sellign sunglasses or cigars.

We did a day trip to Tulum to see the Mayan ruins and we booked it through a tour company at the hotel. We wouldn't have booked through anyone else. If you really want to go to Mexico I would still make the trip! At least you know you can get your money back if you change your mind!

Your honeymoon will be amazing no matter what you decide to do!!!
