We're looking at Maui, HI for part of our honeymoon. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to stay in Maui? Really nice hotels, which town, etc.
Right now we're looking at the Wesin or Hyatt in Ka'anapali, or the Grand Wailea in Wailea. Anyone know about these, or have any other suggestions?

Re: Honeymoon Help! Anyone been to Maui?
My friend LOVED the Wailea area. She said it's more upscale than the other towns - not wild party area. There's a nice path that you can walk along from hotel to hotel that leads to a little shopping area. She said it is the perfect honeymoon spot...Kaanapali was too busy for her taste for a honeymoon. But some people are into the busy/party life even for a honeymoon so it depends on the person. She stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani and absolutely raved about it. It gets consistently good reviews on tripadvisor. I know a few other people who stayed there and loved it too. I was going to do Hawaii but then we changed our minds to Tahiti. When we were thinking Hawaii though we were very torn bet. Grand Wailea and Kea Lani. Grand Wailea looks gorgeous but it gets very mixed reviews on tripadvisor where Kea Lani gets great reviews always. They say there are too many kids/families at Grand Wailea and that the rooms are a little out of date and in need of renovation which for what you are paying - they should be up to date.

I stayed at the Hyatt and I heard the grand Wailea was really nice, but I liked Lahaina better than Wailea because I thought it was too quiet and you can't get a decently priced meal over there. In Lahaina there is a lot of affordable restaurants and shops as well. It's by no means a 'party' town. I just got a warmer, more welcoming feel in Lahaina. Wailea was beatiful though, well the whole island is beautiful.

But you can take your rental car and drive up to Lahania for dinner at night if you want. I heard it's fun to drive around at night for dinner so you get to see other parts of the island. Just another thought. Most TA's include a car rental in your package on Maui b/c you need one to get around.

Re: Honeymoon Help! Anyone been to Maui?
Here is a post from the past about Hawaii. In the post is some of my pictures from the Grand Wailea. I thought the place was awesome and my husband and I really enjoyed it. I've also stayed in Kanapali, which is nice too. Not as ritzy as Wailea. A lot of the hotels in Hawaii are nice, you really can't go wrong.
We actually decided to be different and instead of staying in the $400 per night, overrated hotels, we stayed in a bed and breakfast on maui and it was the best thing we did. The place was amazing, the treated us like gold, and we heard friends of ours who stayed in the pricey hotels complaining that the service wasn't good. The B&B was in a great location - 1 mile from Kaanapali beaches (which are all public so it doesn't matter if you stay there or not) and 1/2 mile from Lahaina town.
