HONEYMOON HELP/VENT!!!!!

so FH & I are looking to go a Mediterranean Cruise for our HM. We are getting married on June 12, 2011 and we would take a flight to Europe, depending on when the cruise departs on either June 13th or June 14th.

Ideally we would like a 14 days cruise. It doesn't have to return to the same port it departed from.

We saw some cruises we really liked but i don't know what it is with that particular week in June. No cruises really leave that week!!!! WHY!!!!!

i can take 21 days off from work, and FH & I want to spend at least 2-3 days in Rome without a cruise to sight see. So even if the cruise leaves on June 16 or June 17th, we would be ok with this!

But the number of cruises leaving on any of those days are almost none and the ones that do are too short!! Why does this have to be so hard! we were planning on using a travel agent to help us with this whole HM planning, but we wanted to check and see what we could find online, to see what ports the cruise ship will go to.

There was one that we fell in love with, but it leaves on the 13th!!! we would never make it! it left from Rome and went to Capri, Sicily, Turkey, Cyrpus, Israel, Egypt, Greece, Croatia and Syria.

Is anyone else having the same trouble with finiding cruises that leave right after their wedding? Or is it just us and we picked a bad day to get married and its messing up our HM?

yeah, i had a similar problem ... which is why FH and I decided to go on our HM a month after the wedding (wedding's Aug 15th, HM is Sept 13th)

i'm kinda happy about it actually because we'll have an extra month to save $$$, and to pack and whatnot lol

We were originally looking at cruises in the Mediterranean - particularly Greece - but I had the same problem. They were either leaving before, the day of, or the day after our wedding. So we decided not to the the cruise and just booked the honeymoon on our own. For our one year anniversary we might do the cruise.

ETA: Also since we're getting married in October, there were any Med cruises in November to the area we wanted.

we don't want to wait to go on our honeymoon.
we want to go right after the wedding since its down time for both of us at work. and it makes sense. doing something small right after the wedding and then going on a real HM like a month later is not an option for us, b/c of work and other family obligations.
it doesn't matter what port we leave from, we really don't care, so i was hoping that would help us, but it isn't!
since i have 21 days to use, it would be a waste to spend so much of those days just sitting at home doing nothing when i could be somewhere else!

I would say before you really panic talk to a travel agent. You never know. They have access to all sorts of information/tours and such.

and if they can't find a cruise maybe they will have an equally awesome alternative.

we are hoping they will add more cruises but we don't want to to wait too too long to book since we do want a balcony room. we don't want to miss out on a great cruise because we didn't book fast enough, ya know?
we did see other cruises we liked, that went to barcelona, venice, monte carlo, livorno, and some greek islands that were nice too, but we really liked the other cruise from my original post since it was so out of the ordinary

I say take a few days/weeks and just go when the next cruise leaves. Even if you go a month later, it wont make a difference. You will have more time to pack and less stress

i can't go later because FH & I both have 21 days off and right after the 4th of July busy season starts for us both and we can't go until the fall.
we are NOT waiting until the fall to go on our HM

We're taking a Celebrity cruise to the Mediterranean for our HM. We get married on June 5th and our cruise leaves on the 14th. We're flying into Rome on the 11th and spending two days there before getting on the ship. It's really not the end of the world to wait a week. Besides, this way you can pack for the HM AFTER the wedding and not have to worry about it with all of the other stuff you need to do.

we CAN'T go on our honeymoon in July!
we can only go after the wedding because of our work schedules.
So waiting an extra week to go on our honeymoon is stupid for us because we loose 7 days that we don't get back.

Thanks so much! these are two of the ones I found on that website too! I am keeping them bookmarked so i can show FH later on tonight!

Or...

Why don't you ditch the cruise idea and pick 3 or 4 places you want to see and do research on how to get from point a and b and just bounce around.

You wont be as rushed as you would on a cruise ship and if you go prepared you will be your own tour guide. and you'll have much more freedom.. i can give you some tips.. I've been to a bunch of those places!

Also... the downfall of a cruise if you don't get to eat the food in each location which is part of the experience!

we didn't want to go traveling from country to country by ourselves and having to hop on and off planes, tranes & autmobiles! lol. plus we both really wanted to do the cruise.

I haven't even started thinking about the HM yet but seeing as how you seem to have a lot of restrictions with dates you should just go and talk to a travel agent.
