Re: Honeymoon ideas in Aruba

we stayed at the hyatt. basically, we hung out by the beach most of the time, whent out to dinner at the hyatt restaurants, chez mathilda, into the main city (dont' remember the name), rented a car (if you could call it that ) and went to the north side of the island and explored the natural bridge. that was awesome! but the best best best thing was taking the bus to de palm island and snorkel!!! wow!!! a couple of days after that, we bought some gear and went to a nonhotel beach and that was amazing! i saw two eels, starfish and tons of fish!!!

if the pix come out, the first is dh off of depalm island, the second is dinner on the beach at sunset of the hyatt. it iwas the best way to end the honeymoon!

eta: the week we went or the week after was hurricane charlie so we def. picked the right place to go in august.

Re: Honeymoon ideas in Aruba

Hi,
We stayed at the Renaissance (Beach Tower which has OCean view suites with balconies) which is downtown in Oranjestad right at the marina. We took a taxi up to the high rise area and walked around by the other hotels. I'm very glad we stayed where we did. The Radisson had been my second choice, and while very nice, I think we had a better location. The mall, the marina and 2 casinos were right there. We were also int he middle of all the fast food which was nice when we wanted to grab a bite and not sit down and eat. If we did want to sit down, we were in walking distance to like 15 major restaurants and lots of bars, including Carlos and Charlies. If we stayed in the High Rise section, we would have had to take cab rides in every day and night, whereas it was nice to take a 2-4 block stroll to get where we wanted to be and go back to the hotel at any time. We were also very happy with the hotel itself. It has a private island that you have to take a 10min boat ride to with exoctic animals, a restaurant, water activites and a spa. They have rocks out protecting the beach so that it's totally clean with no seaweed or junk, which was all over the beach by the HIgh Rises.

But you really can't go wrong and you'll probably love wherever you stay. Have a good time!
