Honeymoon in Aruba ??

I think FH and me have decided on Aruba for our honeymoon, but we have no idea where to begin when it comes to choosing a hotel/resort.....have any of you girls been there? can you recommend any hotels? we're looking to splurge since it's our honeymoon but within reason, I don't want to go broke either.....any suggestions?

Me and my fiance went in November. It was truly the trip of a lifetime. It is a beautiful place with enough to keep you busy for a week. IMO though, try and stay in a time share. The beaches down by the high rise hotels are all tourist beaches and all the jetski/parasail/watersport vendors all crowd the beach and they rope off a little spot where you can swim, and you can see the oil from the boats floating on top of the water.

The timeshares keep there beaches private, and no vendors are allowed and the water is spectacular. We stayed at the Casa Del Mar, you can actually go on message boards and buy time from timeshare holders that aren't using there weeks, for cheaper than regular hotels. It is so worth it. We got a two bedroom apt. for $1400 for the week. If I were you try to stay at timeshare. I have pics I can try and download if you want. The pic of my avatar is actually from Carlos and Charlies in Aruba.

Good Luck

Also, If you like Italian Food and you want the most romantic setting ever, eat at the Restarant by the Lighhouse. It was one of the most amazing nights of my life.

Don't do all inclusive in Aruba!!!! The food is phenomenal!!!! There are a ton of good places to eat! The nightlife is a little lame as the only things open after midnight are the casinos. We stayed at our timeshare: Casa del Mar. This resort is beautiful, unlike many timeshares they cleaned our rooms daily! The staff was the best and you are less than a 5 min walk to the beach! And 1/2 price frozen drinks from 4-7 at the poolside bar! As for places not to miss: the natural bridge and the natural pool, the gold mine ruins, the alta vista chapel. dinner on eagle beach( very yummy), and baby beach! Also try one of the churrascaria's (sp?) and the French Steak House!!!! And see one of the shows at the Rennaissance. Oh and try to do one of the sunset booze cruises and try dinner at the Chalet Suisse!!!!! Have fun it's such a great and beautiful place!

The natural bridge was destroyed by erosion. It collapsed.

Re: Honeymoon in Aruba ??

OH I forgot.........If you choose to Aruba do not do the ATV tour, we chose to do this tour on the third day of our trip and it did not end well. They decline to tell you that you will be going over huge rocks so the ATV is topsy turvy and you feel as if you might fall over. They did not give us helmets and after we left the natural pool, the other couple that we went on vacation had 3 flat tires. I chose to go on my own ATV b/c FH likes to drive like a maniac and I would much rather enjoy having control over my own. Well after we got back on the dirt road there was a blind dip in the road and you go downhill really fast, it was here that I found out that the brakes did not work....and I crashed into a forest of cactus...essentially destroying the rest of my vacation. They rushed me to the hospital and I got 25 stitches in my head, a back, legs, arms, full of cactus, bruises that immediately formed all over my body, I even had pices of cactus right above my ear. The most painful experience of my life, I was very very scared. But I survived and the ER bill was a whopping $40.00 can you believe it???? If I went to the ER here it would have been a G! So just be careful when you go. My parents went after me and they really enjoyed the Jeep tour! It's Safer!
