Honeymoon in Dom.Rep?? I found a deal....

on Expedia, at the Hilton resort for $2k all inclusive? anyone been to DR? This looks like an awesome deal!

FORGET IT FH is being a jerk and will not let me book it! He says we have to wait til we have $$ - well hello our wedding is 4 months away.....i dont even want a honeymoon anymore with his attitude

I said we can charge it and pay it each month.....we are so behind I feel like every other bride is all set to go and with him it's just wait and wait and wait.....

LOL ...i'm so upset. I always imagined my wedding being perfect and going away on a beautiful hmoon and now that's not gonna happen. I just feel crushed

I am sorry- I know how you feel. We booked part of our honeymoon (a cruise out of long beach, CA) and I keep trying to explain we need plane tickets to get there!
I keep saying- it will be a miracle if we pull this off!

We are 95 days away and still have not booked the hotel. We are planning on going to Maine for a week - $195 a night at a gorgeous resort hotel. Since it's off season, I'm hoping we can wait a little longer to book, and we're planning on driving so no flight to book either.

How long was the dom rep trip? That sounds very inexpensive to me... If it is all inclusive- I do not think you will do any better than that.

Sunny it was for a week (Sunday 9/28 through Sunday 10/5). It's a great deal ! Too bad I can't take advantage of it......

Eternity - that sounds nice! I may do a semi-local honeymoon now as well. Or maybe Cali or Fla for a few days. Who knows if I will even go

BTW: Went to DR in 2001. Stayed in Playa Dorada. Thought it was beautiful...

Why don't you guys get one of those 0% credit cards, as long as you know the money will come! We put it on our miles card (our honeymoon), and then transferred the balance to a 0% card. So, we got airline miles and we don't have to pay interest for a year. We did this b/c we knew the gifts would pay for the honeymoon.

FH and I went to Dom. Republic last year in August. We stayed at the Paradisus in Punta Cana for one week. We did an all inclusive plan and from our experience it was the first and last time that we will ever do an all inclusive. The food was horrible ( I didn't eat for the entire time we were there...Breakfast and Lunch were buffets and I do not eat at buffets-sorry if I don't like eating cold food that has been sitting out for a few hours), the hotel staff hardly spoke any English and we found one week to be wayy too many days. The resort itself was gorgeous and the beach was nice and there were a lot of young couples but way tooo crowded and noisy for us. At the beach the hotel would BLAST music so loud that you hardly had any peace and quiet. But it depends on the person I guess. I personally like seclusion and quiet at the beach. I personally would not reccommend DR to anyone, esp. for a honeymoon.

We went to Punta Cana as well. We stayed at Melia Caribe. It was the most beutiful resort, but I would NOT go back either.
The food was ok, and the island was really nice, but after going to a Sandals, and being catered to, I guess that is what I was expecting when we were going to DR. The price is great. We payed $1900 for 2 people...7 days/6 nights...and it was all inclusive.
I have met people who LOVED it. Im just stating my opinion of the place. I liked it, but didnt LOVE it, and would probabaly NOT go back.

thank you all so much for your responses....I was so upset last night that I signed off and went to bed. FH looked at the trip I found online and now we are considering it (he felt bad I think hehehehe). So we shall see.....
