Honeymoon in Greece advice

Hi guys!

We are looking to honeymoon in Italy (Florence & Rome) and then head to Greece to finish our trip. Anyone have any suggestions on travel agents or websites that they've booked through or any other advice (specifically for Greece...but any suggestions about Italy would help as well!)? Also, we are looking to do Greece since we wanted to have a few days of relaxation on a beach or by a pool, etc...but I really know nothing about Greece lol. Has anyone been there and if so, what places do you recommend staying at? Thanks!

We booked with Melissa from tripguy for our honeymoon to Athens, Santorini, and Rome. We priced things out ourselves, and she got us a better price by a few hundred dollars. My FH's stepbrother went to Sanotorini and Mykonos for his honeymoon, and couldn't stop raving about it. He did however mention that Myknonos had the better beaches, but the crowd and scene became too much, and didn't really have a 'honeymoon vibe'. We opted staying in Santorini, in the town of Oia since its supposedly very romantic and beautiful, but I think any of the Greek islands are really. Our room there has its own lazy river plunge pool, right on our balcony, so you can just laze around or go downstairs to the hotels pool overlooking the volcano and Aegean sea. Santorinin also has a beach, but its a pebble beach and volcanic sand, so not as pretty as Mykonos.

Some of our friends and family tried to talk us out of going to Europe for our honeymoon, saying it was more touristy, than relaxing, but its what we want and what you make it. For Santorini we plan on renting atvs and just exploring the island and vineyards, and doing a sunset tour. I

In Rome, theres a tour called the underground tour of the Colosseum, and its supposed to take you down to the restricted area/dungeons, and you get to walk down below where most people aren't allowed. They only allow a group of 12-20 I think for both night and day tours, and its very limited. Last I checked, tickets aren't available yet but they will be soon, at $124pp.

If you're interested, we're booked at the Canave's Suites (Santorini), Intercontiental de la Rome, And Electra Palace for Athens. All hotels are very central so you can walk to most of the major sites. Also try tripdavisor. Thats been my bible for planning our itinerary for the trip.. :)

Honeymoon in Greece advice

I visited the Greek islands may 2012. In santorini we stayed at the Astra Suites in Imerovigli. It was the most breathtaking place I've ever been to. I literally have dreams about santorini and FH and I have already decided to take a second honeymoon there next spring. In Mykonos I stayed at Mykonos Blu. It was great, our suite was two stories and way too big. We also stayed in Crete and Athens. FM me if you have any other questions or want restaurant suggestions! I'm so jealous that you're going!!

Edited because I used a travel agent that I gave used for many years. I don't know that she is always the cheapest but her recommendations are always impeccable and she takes care of everything! FM me if you'd like her info.

No problem! And depending on how long you plan to stay on any particular island, you can always hop the ferry from Santorini to Mykonos, and vice versa or any island really that you're curious about seeing for a day trip. I heard pretty good things about Naxos and Paros, which are lesser known islands, but equally just as nice, and less crowded. If you go in high season, there are hi speed ferries available, but even so, it takes a little over 3 hrs. FH and I plan to do this just to see Mykonos for a day before heading back to Santorini.

If you need anymore tips about Rome or Greece, just fm! :)

I would stay in Athens for a day or two MAX...if you want to see the sights...otherwise, skip it!!!!! It's overcrowded, kinda dirty, and not the safest...stick with any of the islands and you will have a great time! I have only been to kefalonia, lefkada, and Paros to visit family and friends...I think Mykonos, santorini, Chios , Crete, and Rhodes are popular with honeymooners...

This makes me so happy. I am staying in the Astra Suites in Santorini for my honeymoon in September! All the hotels there looked amazingly ridiculous, it was so hard to choose!

we got engaged in Santorini and it was an amazing experience. My FH is Greek, so we visited his island Chios, then Athens for 1 nights, Mykonos, and the perfect end - Santorini - there was so much to do there and the best beach on the island is black sand beach - nice cafes, good quality. We took local busses and taxi as driving/parking is challenging. And if you go to Mykonos - spend half a day in Dylos - another island with historical momuments which are 3K old!!! Enjoy!!!!!!!

Excellent choice! If my wedding wasn't happening in November, which is their 'off' seasons, we would be taking our honeymoon there too! Enjoy!!!!
