Re: honeymoon in hawaii????

If you do a search, there are quite a few posts on this subject. Basically, Hawaii honeymoon prices could go from one extreme, to the other depending on what you want to do, where you want to stay and for how long. . . .
I think the average price from what most of the brides say ranges from $5000-$6000.
Do the search and you'll see.

let me know what you find I too want to go and dont know if I will be able to afford it but 5-6k including food is doable but i think this isnt including spending money. I talked to one girl who went to Hawaii for 850$ per person so i know it is possible to get better deals i just really have to get started on finding out but I will let you know what I find too.

Re: honeymoon in hawaii????

Hawaii is definitely worth it, and you can go there without breaking the bank.

Hawaii can be very expensive-depending on the hotel you pick. But you can stay at a Holiday Inn or Best Western in Maui (or a condo) and still have the same great time as a bride staying in the Four Seasons, and save thousands of dollars.

My hubby and I lucked out--he had enough frequent flyer miles to get us the flight for free and he had enough Marriot Reward points to secure 9 nights in 2 Marriott hotels for free.

Still, we spent close to $3000 during the trip on just our daily activities! We took 2 helicopter tours, a kayak trip, and an ATV tour, and those tours add up. We decided that since we saved on the hotels we'd splurge on the tours. Plus, we ate at a few expensive restaurants during our stay. This also includes the price of the rental cars, which are a necessity on all the islands (except Oahu). We got a convertible for Maui, but we could have saved money by getting a regular car.

However, there is so much to do in Hawaii for free that you can skip the tours and not miss much. (1 helicopter tour was more than enough for me!). But food is a little more expensive (but not very much more than NYC) and the tropical drinks start at about $6.

You can also save money by picking one island, like Maui, rather than doing several (which will save you the interisland flight costs).

I was surprised we had spent that much. We didn't keep track as to what we were spending during the trip.
But it was worth it!

Re: honeymoon in hawaii????

I agree with ShellMarie...Hawaii can be as expensive or inexpensive as you make it...

It all depends on your choices...

I have been to Hawaii a number of times...and once a s low as $825...Its a great time b/c since Japan has been in a 10 year recession (50% of Hawaiis tourism) prices are down...

We booked on www.deltavacations.com while the hotel and room was nice...I would have made it nicer if I went on my honeymoon...

ie you can get the Royal Hawaiian for 2 (with airfare) for $3000 (about 10 days)

surf around on it...

also remember travel agents can get some great deals as well...tell them your budget and they can work with you...

Re: honeymoon in hawaii????

I would definitely look around because a couple friends of mine saw flights in the $750-800 range (for a week).

I think Hawaii is a pretty place and even the not as expensive hotels are really nice.

Re: honeymoon in hawaii????

Activities & restaurants will definitely increase your expenses.

My FH and I went a couple of years ago for a week and a half and we spent somewhere around $3000. Our airfare was free (frequent flyer miles) as well as our hotels (AMEX points). If you want to do things such as horseback riding, helicopter tours, deep sea fishing and fine dining, it will get costly!
