Honeymoon in Italy help

Hi all,

I am so confused about where to go on our honeymoon. I really wanted to go to Hawaii but we only have about 8 or 9 days for our honeymoon and traveling to Hawaii would eat up two of those days.

So...I'm considering Italy, but the question is, which part? Would you recommend 1) Rome, Venice and Florence or 2) Rome, the Amalfi Coast and Capri?

I want to do a little bit of sight-seeing but nothing crazy. I mostly want to relax, eat really well and walk around a bit. As much as I'd love to tour every aspect of Italy, it's my honeymoon and it's the middle of the school year (I'm a teacher) so I do want to relax as well. Would either of the above options work, or should I really cross Italy off the list for now?

Thanks for your help!!

Re: Honeymoon in Italy help

well i think italy is great. it's slow and relaxing and gorgeous

Rome is a bit of a city. very beautiful, but might not be for you if you are looking for a slow-paced relaxing time. florice and amalfi coast sound great

If I had to choose between the two itineraries I would say #2.

HOWEVER....

Rome is busy and touristy..not much 'honeymooning.'

I would highly recommend:

1. Florence (You can go to the outskirts - Chianti area...gorgeous - That's where I grew up)

2. Amalfi Coast/ Capri / Ischia - speaks for itself...

3. Venice - nice city..different cuz off the water. Definitely go to the island of Murano if you go here.

3. Taormina (in Sicily) - you will fall in love..it is so romantic here...

4. Sardegna....gorgeous beaches..great time...

* If you really want to sightsee, you can do that in Venice and Florence.

You can always squeeze in a day in Rome since you will probably be landing or arriving from there.

There are so many places to see in Italy.

FM me if you want more info.

i have to add that Toarmina is probably the most amazing place. . . .my family is from near there and its like another world it is so romantic and beautiful . . .i am so glad that someone else knows how great this place is!

Ischia is an awesome beach place - lots of fun and not too American!

IMHO Rome, Florence etc are sooo touristy! doesnt sound like what you want to do. . .

although Rome is amazing - i also suggest a few days there!!

FM for more info . . . HTH!

From what I've seen online, it seems like you generally start out in Rome and then choose to head north or south. I'll definitely look into Taormina, ladies. Thanks.

Anyone else have thoughts on this????

Re: Honeymoon in Italy help

i am still trying to narrow down the hm choices but Italy has been on the list from day one. i am with you! i want rest, relaxation, good food, beach, and to do a little discovering
from what i learned, you will want to do Amalfi coast, positano, capri, sardinia
i've never been to italy but if i were to go there for a hm, i'd def. check out the places listed above b4 hiting the tourist hot spots.

good luck!!
