FH and i are not sure how much time we'll have between the wedding and when i need to go back to school (i'll hopefully have my first teaching job) - so we're looking at some places to go that won't take several days of travel. I also want to avoid the carribean as our wedding is in august and i don't want to have to deal with hurricanes and tropical storms...
I was thinking Vegas... has anyone been there in august? Is the weather unbarable, or is it okay since it's dry?
Does anyone have any other suggestions on places to go that aren't too far, but likely won't be in a possible hurricanes path?

I went to Vegas at the end of July and I had a wonderful time. The weather is hot but different then the hot here. it is not humid. ALl of the hotels have great pools. I stayed at the Mirage and the pool was great. I think if that is the decision you make you will have a great time!!

I LOVE VEGAS!!!
FH and I went in 2002 at the end of July beginning of August and we're going for our honeymoon. The highest it got was 108* and lemme tell you, it was HOT. It's not humid but you do sweat. It's a great time to go although you'll have a lot of people vacationing there.
I HIGHLY recommend it only because I had a great time. What are you hoping to do on your honeymoon (ie, site see, relax?) other than the obvious of course.

LOL - other than the obvious? Relax! All i need is a pool and some fun nightlife and i'm good.

I just came back from Vegas on Friday!!! My girlfriends and I left our FH's at home and took a well needed girls only trip!
I LOVE it there!!! So much fun!! It was extremely hot (the hottest it's been all summer we were told) - about 113 each day!! No joke! But we would just duck into a casino for some AC and drinks when it became unbearable.
I think you would have fun. My friends and I are already planning another trip back!
