ok the first place we picked about a year ago was tahiti/bora bora and moorea. The place looks amazing, just like paradise so thats why we wanted that...but after reading MANY reviews and really thinking about it, i realized as amazingly beautiful as it is, its not right for fh and I, neither of us lay on the beach, he HATES it infact and i can only do it for a short period of time. We also dont like to be on schedules when on vacation. The fact that there would be 3 restaurants to really choose from and the most popular one only having about 7 tables and us having to book a restaurant MONTHS ahead of time i didn't want to do. I dont want to make reservations months ahead of time. I dont know how id feel that day, maybe id be tired and want to go to dinner late. But we also want a little bit more of a nightlife.
OK so then it was capri, amalfi coast and other areas of italy. This sounded great and for MONTHS has been our plan. I was glad fh wanted to go to europe. WELL last night he says how he doesnt really want go to italy but capri will be ok...i said NO i want you to LOVE where we're going and be excited and he said he'll go if its what i want. So i said no we'll keep looking.
ok so fh started with his suggestions: san francisco and hawaii, cuba, dubai, argentina, bahamas which i said no right away bc i went there with ex and not going on HM to a place i was at with ex. He keeps going back and forth and its annoying bc we're usually on the same page with interests and likes lol but for some reason he has a thing about not going to europe
Then FH says we'll we talked about monaco so how about that...we go online, i show him the hotels, go to the visit monaco site and show him what there is to do and all that...well he LOVES monaco and now wants that and even picked a hotel. It helps that theres a casino every few feet lol. The one bad thing is that i went on a couple of the hotels sites and they STILL don't have rates yet for may, which was also the problem with capri. I saw general prices on another site that were from 07 so i do have an idea but still i'd rather get exact rates.
But even before we stick with monaco(which i dont mind of course bc since i was a teenager i used to say for my HM i want to go to the french riviera) But i want to explore all options i guess. What are you going or what places do you think we'd be interested in. Remember we need other activities besides laying on the beach, i know for some thats their dream vacation to lay in the sun and drinking nice cold drinks but we don't do that. I also like to just go out at night and be able to roam the streets, walk into a restaurant and then after go for drinks and have a lively atmosphere at night. Casino's are a plus, fh and i have a great time when we go, its good for us to go have drinks, fh gamble and hang out.
sorry this is long but i am gonna give a list of places and we're going to sit down and really look into every place and make sure we are 100% happy with it.
PS-no greece, i think it would be ideal for us but he doesn't want to

Ok, so you're probably sold on Spain already given what every1 else had to say....just in case u r still looking for ideas.........
I know a LOT of people who have been going to Costa Rica lately. It's supposed to be beautiful and there is a LOT to do. Maybe something to consider.
thank you. Well now that fh has his heart set on monaco, it'll be hard to go somewhere without a casino lol
i mentioned spain to it and he is for it, his first reaction was 'BUT i love our idea from last night' so i said we can split it, a few days in spain a few in monaco.

How bout if you did a Napa Valley winery thing before going to Hawaii. I think that would be soo fun! You definitely would have lots to do! Monacco will be great....I don't know if you got prices yet but I hear it's super super expensive. As for Egypt FH parents went there on their honeymoon and said it was really dirty and smelly....now you can say that was a long time ago, but my brothers friend just got back from there and said the same thing. I don't think that's fun on a honeymoon. How bout the canary islands off of africa?
i dont drink any wine lol, like not even a sip haha.
Believe it or not many of the hotels in capri were coming out to more money than alot of hotels in monaco...like i said they dont have rates up for you to pick a specific date and book now on their site but they do have prices to show depending which season you go in. Believe it or not as far as hotels and i mean 4 and 5 star hotels, monaco isnt as much as i thought it'd be...not that its cheap dont get me wrong, but most rooms and i mean even their suites dont even reach 2k. Most are in the hundreds a night and then junior suites and suites and are about 1k a night, one place was $1100 another $1400 but this was for their big suite. These prices are for hotel paris, hotel hermitage, monte carlo bay resort and metropole, which are some of their top hotels and 3 out of the 4 are 5 star and one is 4 star.
I would go to a travel agent. They have to have pricing available. There is no way that people are not planning trips for May. I booked my Greece honeymoon back in November. I am sure if you spoke to someone you could get valid pricing.
no not that people arent planning trips bc if that was the case then it'd be low season. Its mid-season, people go but not like the way it is in the summer. Even from week to week it changes, its weird...for example if we go we would wait a few days bc from around our wedding date to a few days after it is high season, then on 5/26 to the following week its mid-season. AND i never said its cheap, $700-1k a night isn't that cheap, some rooms are $1100-1400 and again not cheap...just meant it wouldn't cost us $14k...if you stay 2 weeks then yes it can cost that you that much
I know somebody who just came back from there recently so ill ask even more questions
PS they dont have pricing available...many girls on LIW have contacted TA's and are still waiting for european rates
YOU are RIGHT about this.... our TA just said last night he was JUST getting rates for May (we were originally looking souther Italy- Naples area & Capri... He also said the airfare has gone down about $100 since Oct. when I started working with him....

i just found out why all of may is mid season except for the days following our wedding so the 18th thru to 25, its bc in monaco may 22-25 its the formula 1 grand prix
the 26th up until july is mid season though, but it would be fine actually bc if we do this lol, we can go to spain first then get to monaco after the 26th

I definitley understand where you are coming from. That was the same problem that FH and I faced with doing the whole Tahiti thing, we wanted a 'young and fun place' we are going to the Caribbean. Have you tried a travel agent as they would probable have pricing information for Monaco?

metropole - this is where we wanted, here or fairmont!
yes sorry i was about to post to clarify...if you got a quote for $14k, was it for 2 weeks bc yes monaco will definitely run you that much for 2 weeks, and if you go in the summer even more so. The reason though why some capri hotels were coming out to more money than monaco is because we were looking at 5 star and 4 star hotels in both places and in monaco the rooms are not HUGE, even the suites. They are GORGEOUS dont get me wrong and they do have a bedroom and small LR and a terrace, not huge though. In Capri for 5 star and 4 star you get villas and their suites are much larger, you get huge decks so thats why.
unfortunately all of august is high season...even parts of july will be mid season but starting end of july to all of august its high season.
here are the prices for many of the hotels including metropole. Yes its in euro and i converted the prices on a site that does currency conversion so i am basing my price in US dollars.
It was like 8 nights tops but i don't know if they were trying to also figure in airfare - we went to one lady at LT and honestly she wasn't very nice or helpful...sometimes i think its better to just do it yourself.... we are def. going to go though when its not high season!

honestly, MANY times ive gotten higher quotes from LT than other places and by alot too sometimes. I helped someone book their trip and when i called LT quoted it so much higher than every place.
Yeah if you look at the site i sent you, if you go when its not high season its definitely a difference and for 8 days it will cost you less than 14k. Also to be honest theres not a huge difference between a deluxe room and a suite so if you stay at a deluxe room during lets say mid-season then i think that would work
i am also going to send you a link to show you how to get it even for less.

First, I apologize if this is already posted! FH and I had similar problems with wanting a night life on our HM. We first planned on going to tahiti, bora bora, and moorea. Then we planned on splitting our HM between Italy and Spain! Now we are just spending it in Italy and are still undecided on what hotels to stay at! However, my point was to look into Spain and Morraco. FILs went for there 25th anniversary and I believe they did say there was some casinos in Mallorca and they didn't like staying on the beach either!
