We're goin back and forth for honeymoon destinations between greece, hawaii, and caribbean. The caribbean we have been to a number of times and, kind of, know where to go. However, we have no idea about greece and hawaii. Does anyone have any hotel suggestions at either place???? Also, which islands in greece are best to go to for beach and nightlife.
thanks

We were in this situation- going back and forth trying to decide. What we did was pick a cruise in the Medditeranean. We found that it would be cheaper because of food and everything plus nice to see some destinations.

I haven't been to Greece in a long while, but It was the best trip... I loved it there.
We did a package thru a travel agent and it was:
3 days Athens 5 days Crete 4 days Santorini 4 days Mykonos
I loved Santorini and Mykonos b/c you could site see and do the pool and beach in the same day. We did not site see on Crete .. we were in an all inclusive resort so we pretty much just stayed there.
The sun there is hot but the climate is very dry. My hair did not frizz and I was able to blow dry my curly hair straight! I got a rich golden brown tan.
I've been to the Caribbean too. Love that, but it's very different than Greece. I would discuss Greece with a reputable travel agent. The dollar is very weak now, so I'm sure it will be costly to go to any European destination.
I know someone who flew to Hawaii and took a cruise around the Islands..and said that was the best way to go!

honestly if you've been to the carribean many times before..i would go somewhere else..thats the main reason we didn't want to go to the carribean..we wanted something more exotic..and someplace we would never go..i say go with greece!

I'd definitely say Greece and save the Hawaii for your first Anniversary!

Re: honeymoon issues
We're going to Hawaii...if you choose Hawaii, the Hyatt is supposed to be great in the 'main' islands (Big Island of Hawaii, Oahu, Kuwai, and Maui)-that's where we are probably staying. The Sheraton Waikiki was recommended also. If you are looking for pure luxury then the Farimont Orchid (Big Island of Hawaii); Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, Grand Wailea Resort Hotel and Spa on Maui are all 5-star hotels. If you go to AAA they have all the info you need about hotels or even calling a travel agent (there's no obligation but it costs more to use one!!!!) Beware of the extra hotel fees- most charge a 'service fee' per day to use the towels, sauna, jacuzzi etc.... HTH-good luck!!!

Re: honeymoon issues
We're in the process of booking our HM to Hawaii right now. I went and bought the Frommer's 2008 Hawaii book, and it's soooo helpful. It tells you the places they recommend for staying, eating, partying, etc. It also gives a range of prices for each place. After reading the book and seeing that there's so much to do in Hawaii, I'm thinking about extending my trip.
We're doing 3 islands in Hawaii, and it looks like we're going to do the Outrigger in Oahu, the Marriott on the Big Island, and the Marriott in Maui. Other places we looked at which are good too are the Sheratons, Hiltons, and Hyatts. We checked out hotels online to see what it looked like on the websites, looked at how much they were each night and what they offered. The places we're booking include breakfast each day, so that was a plus for us.
FH's cousin is booking the trip for us because she does something with travel for Amex. So she had sent us the info regarding the airfare and hotel rates, and we just had to choose from what she was sending us.

Re: honeymoon issues
We're going to Greece for our honeymoon- Mykonos, Santorini and Athens. Like some of the other posters mentioned, we go to the Caribean every winter, so we wanted something more exotic for our honeymoon...good luck!
