Hi everyone. We always wanted to go to Mexico- the culture seems amazing, and the activities and weather, and it's comparitively affordable! However, we are both nervous since we have heard horror stories about 'Montezuma's Revenge' and people getting deathly sick on vacation.
Does anyone know more about this? We are looking at the Aventura Spa Palace in Riviera Maya.

i've been to mexico twice and neither me nor anybody i was with got sick. first time we stayed in cancun on the strip but i don't remember the name of the hotel cause this was years ago. second time was also a few years ago but we stayed in the riviera maya at iberostar resort.

We went to Cabo and the resorts basically filter their water. We didn't get sick at all.

I have been to mexico many times and I can tell you that if you're in a resort/hotel on the strip their water is save to drink. They filter everything. If you were to go off the strip to a local restaurant or street vendor, I would suggest steering clear of any type of beverage that is not in a can or bottle. You wouldnt want to take the chance and get sick!

ive been to mexico a few times. most of the resorts filter their water. just make sure not to drink non-bottled water when going outside of the resort.

Things are filtered way more now then ever before. I havebeen to almost everwhere in Mexico. Really dont worry so much. If you want try to stay away from iced beverages & drinking water. Ipurchase bottled all of teh time. But really never had a problem.
Also, if you to Puerto Vallarta you really wont have aproblem. i drink & eat anythign there & im fine

My FSIL went to Cabos for her honeymoon and I think they were fine, but my parent went not to long ago (not cabos but ot Cancun) and they both drank the water and had diarrhea for a week straight! I felt bad for them.

my boss went there (avenutura spa palace) and she was fine so did my friends. I think you are safe just be careful where you eat dont get any food from the local stands and drink lots of tequila!! hear it burns bacteria!! lol
