Honeymoon on a Budget

Hey girls!!

FH and I are on a tight budget being that when we will be married will will be our ears in med school loans. Can anyone suggest a great honeymoon site in April for $4,000 or under???

And mexico is off the list since that's where we have spent the last 3 years of our lives!

thanks so much!

You can also check Jamaica..Usually Negril has good prices, and try to check flights departing on a monday or tuesday should be less expensive. Being a travel agent, I would say try booking with a reputable agency because then you can have a payment plan which is awesome, Thats what I'm doing. Good luck!

Argentina!

Argentina! For real, when I went there the dollar went so far. You could shop, eat, sitesee, and things cost about 1/3rd of NY prices.

If it's summer,Maybe something like Wyoming or Montana or Canada.

If it's winter, DR is pretty budget friendly. Or a cruise.

We're going on a minimoon to San Juan for 4 days/3 nights (really 3 days since half days are traveling) and for flight and hotel it was just over 2k. No food included in that price. If you extended to a 6 night/7 day, would probably bring you right around that 4k mark.

Dominican Republic. You can go there for way less than $4000 and that would include air, hotel and meals.

IMO Aruba is nicer but its more expensive. If you go to Aruba, I personally wouldn't do an all inclusive since the restaurants are awesome. I stayed at the Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino. Added bonus- You don't have to rent a car.

Vegas is also a good idea. How about a cruise? If you guys have been on one before and know that you don't get seasick, that might be fun.

I'm so glad you asked that question. After all the money spent on the wedding we aren't sure how we're going to afford a honeymoon. We want to go somewhere tropical but we aren't sure if we will have a budget for it unless we use our wedding gifts (but at that point it wouldn't really be feasible to do a honeymoon immediately after the wedding).

The only thing I can recommend to you - I stayed in the Dominican Republic at an all inclusive resort for about 5 days and that was very very reasonably priced. (I will prob end up going again if I can't find something similar priced even though I'd rather try somewhere new) FM me if you want to know where we stayed and such.

We are flying to Costa Rica, renting a car to get around, and then renting a house on the beach. It should be under $2500 for everything. Check homeaway.com.

We also considered a cruise.

FH and I travel every year, and we hardly ever spend more than $2000 for both of us for the week. We've gone to the Dominican Republic 2ce, Mexico 2ce, and the Bahamas once. Check out cheapcaribbean.com-- they have amazing deals!!

Belize? The Grand Canyon?

Aruba, all inclusive so your paying all up front and can relax. Around 2,800.00 for 6 days......3200.00 ish for 8 days. Weather is a guarantee.

The DR is the cheapest and pretty good value.

We're most likely going to look into one of the Sandals all inclusive resorts. I was looking at one of the other threads on here this morning and fell in love with the pictures posted of Bora Bora. Unfortunately we definately do not have the money to go there.

Would you believe you can get round trip airfare, 6 nights stay in Ireland with daily breakfast and a rental car for about 2k for both of you? Check travel zoo

FI and I went on a vacation last November to Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica. Best vacation ever! All-inclusive (including drinks which is a plus) for 6 days, 5 nights came out to around $2800. Unless you want to do any other activities while you are there, you won't have to pay for anything.
